I honestly think what he wants from Putin and Russia is primarily in his and business interest; not necessarily in the internet of USA.

The major reasons why Trump won the election were because he promised to end the war in Ukraine peacefully and to bring the price of gas down, which would reduce inflation in the country. If he does not achieve these important promises, he will end up wasting his four years in office. Guess who is the guy holding the keys to these important things that Trump is trying to achieve? It's Putin.
If you were Trump and you had common sense, you would know that the only way to achieve these goals is to humble yourself and work with Putin.

Lastly, once he achieves these key things, it might take a decade before the Democrats can win the presidential election again.
