Many people are not aware that we used to spend coins in Nigeria down to 0.5kobo which was our lowest denomination.

Interestingly, except for the penny, they ALL still remain official legal tender even though no one will collect it from you as they have become valueless.

It is only that one with hole in the centre that I did not use. Though I am sure that I did not ise that 1 kobo up to 5 times

In my primary school days in early 80s, this coin was my daily pocket money. With it, I could get a plate of porridge, or rice and beans or amala.

Who can believe that Nigeria will come to a point when N50 naira note becomes so useless that you can't even buy one sweet with it!

Mhen, inflation is real and inevitable. I used to buy kulikuli, groundnut, donkwa, etc at 10kobo or 25kobo then. Now one small tied groundnut and donkwa is around N100. How many 25kobo is in N100; that is 400 so in 30 years, inflation went 400 times, if we continue like this it means what we buy with N100 will be around N4,000 in the next 30 years.

I can only remember 50 kobo and #1 . I remember then in Primary 2 I'll wait for closing to use the 50 kobo to buy sugar Cain . I'll eat the sugar while trekking till I reach home

All!!! Who can remember when you pick a rusted one in the ground and cleaned it up with your leg,sand and water just to purchase kuli kuli. Egg was 30k then and if your mom smells your mouth and perceive egg…. You’re a goner. Good old days mehn!!
