Early 90s children are the one who saw the departure of coins in year 2000s. I'm part of them. 7naira bread and 3 naira beans I ate a lot in Ibadan around 1999 to 2001. I even use to buy 1 milk cup of rice for my mum at 11naira later on.

When the naira still had value. My parents used to give my elder sis and I 50kobo to share in primary school then. I used to take 30kobo while she took 20kobo . WIth that money you could buy all you wanted and more as a kid then. I cry when I see that a 100k naira cant take you anywhere in this current Nigeria.
DO you know that at a point in time the naira was worth about 2 dollars?

Many people are not aware that we used to spend coins in Nigeria down to 0.5kobo which was our lowest denomination.

Interestingly, except for the penny, they ALL still remain official legal tender even though no one will collect it from you as they have become valueless.
