When basic economy stabilizes, Nigeria will still redenominate the Naira to facilitate the return of the coins.

Many people are not aware that we used to spend coins in Nigeria down to 0.5kobo which was our lowest denomination.

Interestingly, except for the penny, they ALL still remain official legal tender even though no one will collect it from you as they have become valueless.
I spent all, excluding the one on the last row, last column on the right

I remember using...

5,10,50 kobo coins. And the one naira coin. Not for long though, I think they were phasing out at the time.

I also remember when the 1 naira coin was changed to paper note.

I buy kulikuli, ojuku finger and hausa sweet that year.

Nigerians don't really like coins... I remember I used to reject them initially when I came to ghana until I later got used to them.

Now I kind of prefer them for the lower denomination currency!

50k and 1 naira were notes before being changed to coins not the other way round.
the 1 coin was very heavy, hence people started rejecting it. Imagine a situation you pay with N20 and change of N10 is given to you in coins, unlike present there was enough cash flowing in the economy. It is because of the heavy and bulky nature of the coins people didn't want to hold on to it.
