On point @OP What deceives our people abroad is the fact that they sell small money home and it becomes huge as a result of the exchange rate. What's the essence of building a house back home that you cannot live in ![]() You labour all your life for people back home to enjoy. It's okay. ![]() |

Dynamicboss:You are just a modern-day slave trapped in their demonic system. I can visit abroad on holidays from time to time while still based here. It's the best of 2 worlds. ![]() |

I usually avoid topics like this one. A topic where personal and individual realities are made generic. There have been people who have been successful going overseas. Just as there have been successful people who remained in Nigeria. And there have been people unsuccessful out there and in Nigeria. My advise will always be to: 1. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE PATHWAYS AND TIMEFRAME TO SUCCESS IN ANY LOCATION. EACH COUNTRY HAS ITS PATHWAY AND IT TAKES TIME. 2. HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS. YOU WILL NOT ARRIVE CANADA AND YOU THINK THEY WILL SACK THEIR PRESIDENT AND THE CEOs OF COMPANIES AND HAND YOU THOSE JOBS, BECAUSE YOU A NIGERIAN (WITH YOUR GARRI AND OKPOROKO IN GHANA MUST GO BAGS) JUST ARRIVED THEIR COUNTRY. 3. DEVELOPMENT OF A PERSONAL PLAN AND ROAD MAP FOR YOUR SUCCESS AND PROGRESS TOWARDS FINANCIAL FREEDOM/INDEPENDENCE AND HEALTH/WELLBEING. NO ONE EVER GUARANTEED YOU OR OWES YOU ANYTHING BOTH IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY OR COUNTRY YOU MIGRATED TO. EVEN YOUR COUNTRY NIGERIA HAS TAKEN AND BATERED AND DONE SO MUCH TO YOU. YOUR OWN COUNTRY HAS NOT GUARANTEED YOU ANYTHING. YOU MUST HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN BEING ABLE TO PEE ON THE ROAD,ATTEND OWAMBES ,BRIBE THE POLICE,NOT PAY TAXES ETC VS WHAT YOU HAVE OVERSEAS. PROPERLY REVIEW YOUR MOTIVATION TO JAPA AND CALCULATE YOUR COST AND BENEFITS PROPERLY. CALCULATE IT WELL. UNDERSTAND THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM. THE WAGES, EXPENSES, SAVINGS POTENTIALS, ETC. JUST BECAUSE THEY GIVE YOU RIGHT TO IMMIGRATE TO CANADA OR USA OR UK OR AUSTRALIA, OR ETC., YOU EXPECT THAT WHEN YOU GET TO THE COUTRY THEY SHOULD JUST SACK THEIR PRESIDENT AND MAKE YOU PRESIDENT AUTOMATICALLY? BECAUSE YOU ARE WHAT? A NIGERIAN?! Many people joke with the Japa thing and do not calculate properly. I once saw a Nigerian who said he did not know that the Prairies in Canada (One of the Worlds Coldest Region) will be cold!!!!!! Imagine that! An immigrant was so uninformed and ignorant about weather conditions in Canadian Prairies and did not come with a winter jacket from Nigeria, in December of 2024. It wasn’t funny and I wanted to insult him. Because it was annoying. How and why do Nigerians act like so without a plan? Now if someone can come to Canada without knowledge of the weather how much more knowing the ROUTES AND PATHWAYS TO TAKE TO FINANCIAL SUCCESS AND INDEPENDENCE ,STABILITY AND WEALTH CREATION AND OWNERSHIP. Then they come and make useless social media videos about a country and destination they did not plan for, did not research, did not weight the costs and benefits, did not check weather conditions, did not investigate the pros and cons, etc. And because they are looking for views and likes and subs they whip up usless sensationalized topics just to get clicks. You all get to a country and then because you hear “credit cards” you rush them and get 5. You buy things you cannot afford and then subject yourselves to 4 jobs to pay for your lifestyle. You buy cars (a depreciating asset) for 50k Dollars, Phones through financing, household gadgets through financing, subscribe to DoorDash, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc etc. You forget you have city tax, waste bill, water bill, power bill, sewer bill, and if the property is yours, you have Property Tax. It is not every job you do that you cannot save overseas. The person that posted this topic is using the experiences of a few people to generalize the entire experience. It is not true that you do not have time to relax. It is you Nigerians who out of greed and materialism and to pepper your fellow Nigerians you get 5 credit cards, buy nonsense andthen you have to work 3 jobs to pay them off. How do you want to have time to relax? Also, many Nigerians are so ignorant of the fact that RECREATION overseas is just different. It isn’t like our typical owambe and barbecued fish with 25 years Glenfidich. It is bowling, skiing, play grounds, restaurants, vacations, etc. Go and look at those that got there and succeeded. There are pathways with higher guarantees of success. They take time, hard work and dedication. Businesses, Investments, Passive Income Sources, Side Hustles, Finding the Right Circles, Moving with the right crowd, building presence, recognition, power and influence, etc. When you see people (especially NIGERIANS) complain about Japa, most often that not they fall under these categories: 1. THAT PERSON IS BITTER AND ANGRY AND ENVIOUS AND JEALOUS BECAUSE HE/SHE HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO MEET THE MINIMUM CRITERIA TO JAPA. That person has not been able to go as much as they would have loved to. The person either does not have the funds; failed IELTS woefully, does not have the education requirements, has married a bad wife/spouse and is afraid what would happen once they get there, etc. The person is just bitter ! 2. THAT PERSON HAS BEEN ABLE TO JAPA BUT FAILED TO PLAN WELL AND HAS MADE VERY BAAAAD DECISIONS WITHOUT THOUGHT AND STRATEGIC CRITICAL THINKING: The person went overseas and made very poor decisions. Very poor! And this has lwd to them entagling themselves in financial mess and working 4 jobs to pay off the bad financial decisions. I know a student who came to the UK and her first credit card she used the limit in acquiring the latest iphone that got launched that year. Even when she was told, her responses made it clear that she did not understand how the credit system works overseas. 3. THAT PERSON HAS BEEN FORCEFULLY REMOVED OR NOT ALLOWED TO STAY: The person has been forcefully deported or the person had to flee back home due to crime, bad decisions, and as a means of escape. Or after edcuation or sponsorship exepired, the person couldnt stay back as the authorities were on their case. Be careful of what motivates peoples opinions and do you independent search and verification of facts, before taking any decision.

Saga16:London is better than here 100 times You have access to social amenities, your pensions will not be delayed, your gratuity is guaranteed. Your children will benefit from world class education, their police is Truely your friend providing security and lots more. If Nigeria was better than London, even the white man will leave his country and come down here as seen in the case of US citizens traveling down to Bali because of high cost of living. |

malali:This is the reason why I so detest Tinubu's government! What Nigeria needs now is a true nationalist like Obasanjo or even an Atiku will be better.........we do not need a local champion! What Nigeria needs is a leader that can pull a team together from all parts of the country to rebuild our land! so we can produce our way out of poverty! How can this man call tinubu spend 12 billion dollars on a single road ...when the nation has no electric power! I tire o! |

Abufo:Obasanjo and Atiku are not the solutions to our problems.....The bot had their chances. Nigeria is still poor Atiku is not !! Nigeria is still poor Obasanjo is not !! These guys took good care of themselves. |

Saga16:It's the same thing kind Sir You know the truth, Nigerian healthcare system has one advantage which is being so cheap and easily accessible for the common man. Apart from that, it is an archaic slave system where health care workers are exploited by their Toxic Seniors (Medical elders who preach that suffering must continue) and the Government who feel that Medicine is humanitarian only. Instead of Government to adjust their salary scale being used since 2009, they increased their retirement age, how callous. An entry staff in Sterling bank earns from 500k and above while a houseofficer earns 244k. That's why you see Doctors having 5 side hustles, some even go to the extent of siphoning government funds when possible and billing patients stupendous in their private practise. It pains that you sing songs against JAPA when you can highlight the reasons why people JAPA. |
