When this war started, lots of people pointed out the foolishness of the whole exercise for the Ukrainians. It was a senseless war. Allowing the west to instigate them to assault Russia under Putin was a monumenal strategic mistake.

The Americans and their western counterparts would never have attacked Russia directly and would be very careful as to how much support they provide for the Ukrainians knowing fully well that the Russians are brimming with nukes, the most sophisticated rockets/delivery systems and some of the best air defence systems.
