Why I’m not married, yet to have kids - Ruggedman

Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has revealed why he does not have children.

Speaking on a recent episode of TVC’s Your View Pidgin, the 51-year-old artist stated that he made a personal vow in his younger years never to have a child out of wedlock.

“I am not currently in any relationship, nor am I married, and I do not have a child yet. When I was much younger, I vowed never to have a child out of wedlock,” he said.

Ruggedman admitted that, at times, he questions whether his decision was right or wrong but maintained that parenthood requires commitment from both parties and should only be undertaken with someone he truly loves.

The Baraje crooner also further reflected on his early years in the entertainment industry, suggesting that his career may have influenced his personal life choices.

“I blame entertainment a little because when we came into the industry, we didn’t know much—our focus was just on entertainment,” he said.

"Even a friend of mine made a statement saying in pidgin, 'Make person never go use him, wife, to do girlfriend', because at the time my focus was on entertainment, and I have met people I don't even know if they were ready, and I have met people that like me, but not the fact that I'm into entertainment. "

My mama thought me something. Once she came visiting and a female colleague who was married with two kids followed me home to say hello to mamma. Mamma interacted with her and she told mamma she has only 2 children and they are cool with that as that is what they wanted as a family.

After Isime left, mamma asked me if the lady was actually saying the truth about having only two kids and I confirmed it. She asked me why and I told her the wanted it so. Then mamma said:

Meanwhile, they go everywhere and do everything to have more kids. If it never works for them, they simply stick to their story. But if it enters, they will say it's a mistake, and the mistake continues untill they have the number of kids they desire. I am telling you this from experience."

I didn’t know and didn’t care. I respect his decision. This guy slept with many women when he went to perform in my cousin’s school that year. I heard he was always with an entourage of five groupies. That he didn’t mistakenly pour in any is an achievement.

He has his choice. Not everyone is freaked about giving births to kids to validate themself or their existence

your mama that lived in an era when it wasn't difficult to care for battalions of children, when things were relatively inexpensive, when govt still cared for the people, when quality of education was high and almost free for the people, the same mama succeeded in brainwashing you against someone who is living in the harshest era in the country's history and decided to have just two kids that she can manage . But if you are to carry out a survey between kids from a Stable Home vs kids from Baby Mama/Papa, the former have far greater chances of living a Happy & Fulfilled Life.

Lol, experience is experience. Are you a Nigerian? You will be shocked to know that she was 100% right about my colleague as I got to learn later when I probed further. I can also bet you, this man here has not told us why at 51 he is not married and has no kids. Mamma's assertion is her life experience, university doesn't teach it. Even in the era Mamma was active, poor people still gave birth to many children they couldn't take care of. It is a big shame you failed to learn from my write-up. Just reading and passing exams is not the essence of education my friend, but learning how to learn from others' experiences so as to reduce the extent to which you will directly have bad experiences yourself is.

A lot of People in China, Japan, Taiwan, Austrakia, South Kotea Uk, Greece, Spain, Itakly are not having kids due to many reasons like having acceas to too much information about life, global uncertainty, economic uncertainty , choice, not wanting the responsibiility, need for personal space, feeling of not being able to give their optimum time and resources and energy to a chilld"s needs,, fear of natutal disasters fear of economic crisis,. High cost of quality child birth, child care ,healthcare, education and housing, peace of mind, fear of kids being exposed to bad vices like violence and transgender and immoral vuces promoted in the media through videos, films amd cartioons,

Many African countries and Afghanistan have the higjhest birth rates

High Birth rate does not translate to economic innovation and productivity or better quality of life

It can be an economic and physically demanding venture.
