NNPCL Has Not Imported Petrol In 2025 — Kyari by TimeManager(op): 9:21am On Mar 01, 2025
The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, has clarified that the company has not imported a single litre of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, since the beginning of 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday, NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye conveyed Kyari’s remarks at the 60th Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society, NMGS Conference in Abuja.

According to Kyari, the claim by detractors that NNPC imported 200 million litres of fuel in the last days of February 2025 is entirely false.

He also noted that there are no quality issues with PMS across the country.

“The talk around fuel quality is unfortunate and a very bad marketing practice. It’s all drama and entertainment, and as we know, drama has a way of entertaining the people,” Kyari stated.

“I believe these regulatory agencies are doing their job. They have not come back to tell anyone that we have substandard products in the country,” he added.

Kyari stressed that the company has taken legal and security measures to ensure that those responsible for spreading such misinformation do not tarnish the country’s reputation.

He noted that the implications of such acts go beyond NNPCL, warning that they damage the entire nation.

While acknowledging that people may have their frustrations, Kyari cautioned that falsehoods should not be extended into business.

“These are just lies because we didn’t even import products within the timeframe mentioned in that report. All the mischief about aligning this fictitious importation with the so-called low-quality fuel is baseless,” he stated.

Regarding a viral video claiming that NNPC fuel is substandard compared to Dangote petrol, Kyari dismissed it as “unfortunate drama and bad marketing practice.”

The misconception stemmed from the fact that some people confused every fuel Importation and attribute it to NNPC. But they are ignorant of the fact that there are independent marketers under different umbrella bodies who always look to import cheaper fuel from abroad into the country to complement the fuel supply in the country.

Good because I keep wondering whether you forgot your investment in Dangote's Refinery to be sabotaging yourself.. Now wield you big hand and influence others to stop importation.

Kyari's time is over. I think he should leave the scene now. He's more dramatic by clinging on after retirement. All of them are idiots.

Bad idea. It's a free market. Let those who want to import do so. Consumers will be better for it. Of course, we need imports to stop, but let that be brought about by market factors instead of by "big stick".

So, the importers that are scared according to this article in the link below belongs to NNPCL?. I don't envy your bitter existence at all. Is Dangote not presently in court to revoke the Importation license of fuel marketers?. They more you open your mouth, the more you sound dumber.

But all refineries in the world, including Dangote blend their petroleum products. Blending is a normal practice.
Re: NNPCL Has Not Imported Petrol In 2025 — Kyari by koning: 9:59am On Mar 01, 2025
2025!. It's just beginning. We just completed the second month.

Stop all imports. Dangote and the other refineries can and should meet local requirements for all fuels.

PMS SHOULD COME DOWN TO N500 per liter by year's end.
Re: NNPCL Has Not Imported Petrol In 2025 — Kyari by NOETHNICITY(m): 9:59am On Mar 01, 2025
So why are you selling at a price much higher than what Dangote offers?

Has NNPC now made it a habit to exploit Nigerians?

Well, thank God I stopped buying fuel from NNPC since the last price adjustment. Why should I buy from NNPC at ₦945 when I can get it from MRS at ₦925?

Now that MRS is selling at ₦860, I no longer care what price NNPC sets.

Importation cannot stop, it can only get reduced. Top oil producers still import from outside.

Many Nigerians are daft to believe Dangote's propaganda. Every fuel station you enter is selling fuel produced by Dangote but will take any circulated video hook line and sinker.

1. The person you quoted is right as NNPCL cannot be competing against itself

2. It's a free market and obviously there are other players importing that's why we see competitive pricing from the Dangote

3. There's no "big stick" anywhere! If there was, we won't be having number 2 point!

4. Imports will stop when we are able to ramp up local refining capacity and Dangote isn't the major player in this space

My comment addressed the part about stopping all imports by fiat (big stick). I did not disagree with the point about NNPC importing.
