Rocky234:The degree and complexity of the interview questions will be heavily dependent on the age of your child. If your child is really young then the questions will be directed to the guardian/person that accompanies him on his interview day. Please follow the list of documents required for a family reunion for children, as updated on the German embassy of Nigeria’s website. I would presume that the formal declaration of consent for the child from the father who remains in Nigeria will be also relevant in your case. The above list of required documents I think is exhaustive. I hope your name is on your son’s birth certificate (as his mother) and other relevant and biographically old documents. |

MedBose:He is 8 years old and I have checked out the website .and is aware of all the formal requirements . I just wanted a real life experience if any, from anyone who is in this position. Yes my name is all required documents. Thank you for your response |

His Dad should write a consent letter stating that he is the father of the boy and approves of him joining you, his mother in Germany. He should also attach his passport data page to the letter. Normally, he is supposed to join your son for the interview (it's written on the checklist that the parent in Nigeria should come with the child/ren for the child's interview). The letter which should contain his email address and phone number is usually the option if the father or mother cannot appear with the child for the interview. Rocky234: |

Hi Everyone, I hope you all are doing okay. I always feel bad when I come on here and read and dont get to share. I have taken time to monitor this trend and I have noticed that it take between 19 to 23 months to get an appointment from the day you book an appointment. (omo no be beans oh). so what I have tried to do that might help us all is to list out the months and the possible month that you will get an appointment. Presently the embassy are on the people that book their appointment in May 2023 ( Noticed that from this trend) May/June 2023 = March /April 2025 June/July 2023 = April/ May 2025 July/August 2023 = May/June 2025 August/September 2023 = June/July 2025 September/October 2023 = July/August 2025 October/November 2023 = August/ September 2025 November/ December 2023 = September/October 2025 December 2023/January 2024 = October 2025/ November 2025 January /February 2024 = November/ December 2025 And so on, so as you can see the pattern. I applied for an appointment in November 2023 and I already just set my mind to August/September. I'm just working towards getting all my required document pending when the time comes. I hope this helps someone. We will all be victoriuous |

Didibk:Hello everyone, I’ll be leaving for Germany in some weeks for my masters. I’ll be getting married at the end of the year. Does it make sense for my fiancée to apply for an appointment date for a family reunion visa now? |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by olig(m): 1:40pm On Mar 07, 2025 |
Good day all. Please what is the "success rate" of family reunion for dependants of a masters student? 🙏 🙏 |

| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Didibk: 9:03pm On Mar 07, 2025 |
Yes!!! They should apply for an appointment date ASAP. The waiting period is almost 2 years now i think. If i may ask please, did you wait for an appointment date like in the case of family reunification or your school expedited your visa application? Fefeeee: |

I had to go to bank to do a physical transfer, while I was about filling the slip, I got an email thinking it was from the Goethe institut but to the Glory of God it was from the embassy saying; Dear Madam, With regard to your visa application, we kindly request that you submit the following documents to the Consulate: * Your Nigerian passport * Proof of incoming insurance that covers your stay in Germany for 90 days or statutory health insurance or private health insurance. It doesnt matter. The passport i used to book the appointment had my maiden name. At the time of the interview, i went with my new passport bearing my new surname. There were no issues at all. |

Hi everyone, I would like to know if anyone has applied for a study visa with a dependent, a minor precisely. I would like to know how long the visa processing took after the interview. I interviewed since last year and I’ve been waiting for my AM for months. If I make enquiries, they reply that it’s still being processed but I have seen several people get their visa, even people who were interviewed this year. My block account is fully funded for my son and I and my husband is in Germany also. I want to know if anyone have had similar issue or know anyone who must have had similar issue. Please help a sister! |

Congratulations to all of you granted visas and good luck to those still on the waiting list. I sincerely do hope that you don't go there, join bad friends and then leave your spouse because of "open eye". |

Please we should refrain from turning this wonderful thread into a semblance of a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram comment section. I believe no one here is a baby. Such unsolicited advice is needless. This thread is solely for information about the VISA APPLICATION process. A simple congratulations and additional comment regarding the visa APPLICATION PROCESS should suffice. osurvey: |

When was your son interviewed last year? Were all the documents required for his visa application complete? If yes, send the embassy an email to ask for an update. Also, those who interviewed this year and have been given visas are probably Blue Card holders. Sinachi2020: |

Didibk:He Is just 4 years old and we went for my interview together. I’ve been sending mails to the embassy to ask for update but they keep telling me that it’s so being processed. The last Mail I sent was last week but I didn’t get a reply. I’m really concerned about my documents. I dunno if this has happened to anyone before. |

Hello everyone. I've been hearing of this family reunion visa, does this mean that one's spouse cannot go with them at the same time they're going? If yes, how long does it take before one can start applying for family reunion visa? |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by magnificient7: 7:43am On Mar 26, 2025 |
Onyxunlimited:If your spouse got a job for example, I think he can be able to apply for both of your visas at the same time, which is faster actually. But if he goes first and then apply for yours through family reunion, it may take about 2 years to join him. |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Onyxunlimited(f): 3:35pm On Mar 27, 2025 |
magnificient7:Okay. Thanks for your response. What if the spouse gained admission? Does Germany allow for dependants of student visa holders to go with them? |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by magnificient7: 6:01pm On Mar 27, 2025 |
Onyxunlimited:Hmmm...I wouldn't say it's impossible but not common, especially since the both spouse would have to block separate block account...maybe if the person is under a scholarship like dad, then he/she can try to explore the option. |
