zed7:A can can worth $436bn but have customers with $100trn total deposits, there is difference between a bank's worth and customers money deposited in the bank. Fidelity bank can have total capital base of N38bn then have for instance Dangote with N40bn, Otedola with N30bn, Adenuga with 10bn as major customers. Then also many multinationals and miilionares with combined deposits of N200bn. |

I dont think Citigroup has that much money in their name. This has brought to fore the scam in banking sector where banks can credit an account with numbers even when they currently don't have that much in their possession |

Must be more of a code error than actual cash error. Even the US debt isn't as big as that. |

zed7:ACCOUNTING 101 That net worth is only the Equity value of the business. We still have Assets and Liabilities to account for that make up part of the $81 trillion(Assets - Liabilities = Equity). The Liabilities made up most of the $81 trillion because Citigroup is a bank, they have customers’ money with them which is a Liability. |

themanderon:I hope you are being sarcastic. You don’t just print money out of the thin air because your currency will devalue as there’s no scarcity, and will mess your economy up! |

oz4real83:Citigroup is not only in US, they’re a multinational firm. They are even present in Nigeria. Add up the value in all countries they’re operational, and you have your answer. |

I did my maths and discovered if an interest of .001% interest was paid on the money, that would be $8bn. Imagine, if Citi group had paid him that interest or divided by 365days, that would be $22m The account owner could easily monetize it by appearing on TV. He could even set up a Tiktok account. |

ZUBY77:Mistakes can be made, what am trying to say is that it took them longer time to figure it out. Big money transfer in banks always pass through up to three different offices for authorization before it's finally posted. Moreover don't they do daily transaction call-over before each day work begins. |
