The constricting and economically unfeasible government policies of tariffs increment, forex fluidity and stiff manufacturers competition among many are affecting cost of production Hence, can't dictate price of commodities like cement.

High price of cement in Nigeria since 2023 na collusion among all the manufacturers of cement in Nigeria. The production cost of one bag of cement in Nigeria even in this inflation period shouldn't be more than 3000 naira, yes.
Dangote, BUA and the rest just decided to keep the price high to squeeze Nigerians and maximise profits. To what end? 20 to 30 years from now, all of them won't be around anymore, only their legacies will remain

Govt says "amid improved economic conditions". So which one come be constricting and economically unfeasible govt policy, forex fluidity again? Also, how does competition among manufacturers negatively affect prices of products?

I know a typical ipob miscreant prefer soaring prices of commodities with the warped thought elu p can leverage on that to gain vote next election. Keep deceiving yourself you here? Even if Nigerians decide not to vote Tinubu again, pandora gringory obituary can never be president of Nigeria, let this sink.

If you have to plead with cement makers to bring down prices or the matter will be escalated to Tinubu, then the system isn't working.

Where are all the people who said subsidies are bad...the free market system is good...allow the price system to work its magic...government intervention is bad etc. Why haven't prices come down - with falling costs of production for cement manufacturers? Isn't it supposed to work automatically? Why does Umahi need to threaten anyone?

If the system is working, the Umahis of this world do not need to plead with anyone to bring prices down. There is no subsidy or government intervention in Nigerian cement so why is Umahi threatening sellers in a free market? undecided

The raw materials are gotten from Nigeria, hence let the price go back to what it used to be. Or are we now importing the raw materials?

God bless your thoughts 👍.
It is just greed, greed and greed on the part of our Manufacturing Companies, because Fed Govt is too Soft on them!
They are reaping NIGERIANS dry- not because they Care or Love Nigerians.
Are they Not included in the recent Fiasco of IBB pledges of his book/ Memoirs and the Presidential Library recently?
Just same way the Former Governors were in Abeokuta,Ogun State or was it in Abuja-for OBJ gathering on Presidential Library donations then, and you could remember Ibori, etc, making pledges!
Who owns the so called Presidential Library in Abeokuta now!
Greed, Corruption has bleeped Nigeria up including all these Multi Nationals!
The Masses are just powerless!

There is no proper price control mechanism in Nigeria.

Those greedy manufacturers won't bring down the price except there is boycott or stiff competition/importation .

A people in shackles of self inflicted suffering and pain.
In the home, communities, streets and rulership, people suffering their fellow humans globally.

No peace through the hands of humans for humans anywhere in the world.

It is fuel Importation from marketers that's forcing Dangote to cut down pump price, otherwise, fuel price would have been higher. Those calling for Importation to stop, better think it twice.
Besides, the raw materials for cement are here in the country, so why is it that high?
Dangote is very good at price war. He's a wicked and merciless capitalist. His aim is to run those fuel importers out of business so that he can come back to increase the price to high heaven and consolidate.

What are the factors that influence the increase or decrease of the price of a product?

Unavailable or reliable Electricity
High Transport cost
InSecurity
Multiplicity of taxes....affect the price of a product or service!

Even if all the raw materials are available in Nigeria, you need constant and affordable electricity, low transport cost, effective security, and a single tax payment system!
These are the factors needed for a manufacturer to comfortably provide affordable products for consumers!

Even if the exchange rate gets to a thousand naira,as long as the production cost in Nigeria is very high, products by manufacturers esp the local ones will keep getting high!

Have you ever wondered why products in countries with power supply and low transport cost sell cheaper products than Nigeria?

Dangote is not responsible for providing a level playing field for other competitors!
That's the responsibility of the federal government!

By the way,are we supposed to be having fuel importation in the country when NNPCL claimed the port Harcourt and warri refineries are now functional?

I thought BUA promised us something, what's happening then?
Cement made with limestone mined in kogi and edo state shouldn't in any way be as costly as it is.

Looking at the kind of profits BUA and Dangote are declaring goes a long to show that they are selling cement way higher than it should be sold
They reduced the price to the distributors but the distributors did not reduce their price to the customer and were pocketing the difference so they put it back up. At least that’s what they said.
