Stop being an imbeci.le.

Indians, Chinese, Japanese etc, do not reason like this your cockroach reasoning.

They do not say “Oh because we use this or that aspect of western convention, therefore we must dress like them, talk like them, and wear their hair on top of our heads!”

Chinese borrowed heavily from western technology. Do you see them struggling to speak English or borrow christian religion or Islam etc?

NO.

They take what they need from outside while maintaining their cultural independence and dignity.

Learn from them!
The Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Americans etc did not reject those dresses because "they are colonial relics" this where ur f00Iishness comes to the fore.
They didn't use it because it was inconvenient for them in so many ways, hygiene wise due to the nature of some legal practitioners traveling distances to preside over cases, it was not convenient for them in terms of hot seasons, it was expensive to maintain, some of the early users that rejected it in those countries rejected it because it "makes them look like rats peeping from a hole", some argued it made them look like women because those ages, women were not presiding over legal proceedings.

Then you have Africa where their sole reason for rejecting it is because "it's a colonial relic" are u not f00Iish for rejecting colonial relic while keeping the court and the legal system?
They are all colonial relic.
That's a proverbial case of saying you don't eat lizard but will eat the stew wherein the lizard was prepared.
Pàthètic.

I will advise you to put on a functional bràîn before arguing, so far with your tons of replies on this post, you seem to have a functionless bràîn that's why you keep making Iame comparisons with other countries.

Other countries maintained their culture according to you, the court, the legal code, the legal proceedings has no place in our culture, it is all borrowed, if u are so loud about rejecting colonial relics while maintaining our culture, then you have faiIed woefully when applying that to the court.

We know too well that all lawyers are liars, but for them to take this step, i wish them well.

If you haven't had court cases in Europe, you'd think they're saints too. They're disgustingly corrupt too.

GET LOST WITH YOUR LIES, YOU SLAVEBOY.

SOUTH AFRICA, USA, CHINA, INDIA, AUSTRALIA AND OTHERS HAVE ABANDONED THE ENGLISH WIGS, but have not abandoned the legal system they inherited.

THEY NEVER GAVE YOU ANY REASON WHY, SO STOP INVENTING LIES FROM YOUR HEAD AS TO WHY THEY ALL STOPPED WEARING THEM.

I GUARANTEE YOU THAT WITHIN THE NEXT 3 YEARS MAX, THOSE WIGS WILL BE GONE FROM THE NIGERIAN LEGAL SYSTEM.

If you miss them so much you can MOVE TO UK.

Blasted slave with no shame.

Making arguments about what you have no idea about.
South Africa is part of the Africa that is rejecting it solely because it's a "colonial relic".

The others you mentioned stopped using it ages ago, some didn't use it at all.

In a historic shift, lawyers and judges in Burkina Faso will now wear exclusively African clothing in court, marking the end of the colonial-era tradition of donning European-style wigs and robes. The decision aligns with the country’s broader push for cultural identity and self-reliance, eliminating the need for imported legal attire.

This decision marks a significant step in reinforcing African heritage and pride, aligning with a broader movement across the continent to break free from imposed traditions. Many view this as an act of cultural liberation, symbolizing a shift in mindset that prioritizes African identity over remnants of colonial influence.

Observers believe this move reflects a growing wave of consciousness across Africa, with Burkina Faso’s leader,Captain Ibrahim Traoré, seen as a driving force in this revolution. As more African nations challenge outdated colonial practices, will others take inspiration from Burkina Faso’s example?
Slowly but surely, we'll get there. As I predicted, we'll eventually discard all useless inheritance of imperialism and return to being ourselves. It's a matter of getting smart enough to understand our predicament.

The Burkina Faso president is what is called a man.

A man just like the army, protects his culture from foreign invasion. As a man, your job is to defend your culture from intrusion. You may copy only what's useful from others but not destroy yours in exchange for what's foreign.

Today, we speak European languages, acquire foreign education, worship foreign gods because the black man on the African continent is dead. Those are the three major tools of culture, and until we weed them out of the African continent, there's really no way to have our cultural common sense back. But at least this is a start.

@those of you asking why they still speak French, every inheritance of colonialism won't be wiped off one day. It has eaten deep into our psyche and culture that it would take time to be removed. This is like the "baby step" that would lead to more changes.

NB: This post has been escalated on my blog. See what is a man? What is the role of a man in society? https://www.africason.com/2025/03/what-is-man-what-is-role-of-man-in.html

I am fed up with black men in Africa

South Africa was the 2nd former British colony to abandon wigs, after the USA. That is before India, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and all other Commonwealth members.

Nice one!

Even though Oyibo has jettisoned it, Nigerian lawyers still wear that rag on top of their heads in the awfully hot and humid Nigerian weather. Mental slavery has turned out to be worse than physical chains.

In the very hot Abuja weather, one "educated" imp walks around in a suit donning carpet cut out on his head. It's worse for women. As if wigs and weaves are not bad enough, they will add a rag on top of it. grin

Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 has taken economic independence from France.

But Nigeria is still tied to the appron strings of her colonial masters. Nigeria is still the plantation of the colonial master. Nigeria still goes to Chatham House of London before its presidential election.

This is laughable.
The legal code came to MOST African countries through colonial rule, it's a colonial remnant.
The Court is also a colonial remnant but Africans in their profound wisdom think that removing the wig which came along with the court but keeping the court and the legal system is seen as a "challenge outdated colonial practices".
This is why the continent doesn't really grow.
^^^
It is a start.

It is up to the Burkinabes to make sure that it doesn't stop at just the attire - and that they also do all within their power to reform the entire legal system. If they succeed at this, they would have leapfrogged several African countries.

It is a start.

My only regret is that it is coup plotting soldiers who are superintending these changes. Nigeria is living proof that soldiers have never been and will never be the answer to this continent's challenges.

It's emancipation from mental slavery...

The European stole out identity and left with it to Europe. Think about it, as time goes on, out identity as African will be lost and we will be metal slaves forever.
