You can be smart by having an account with a bank that has branches almost everywhere, like GTBank. I’ve changed my location four times, and I still have a GTBank branch close to me. I don’t even use POS. I withdraw 20k from my bank for things that don’t accept transfers. No alert charges because I selected email only, and no ATM maintenance charges. You can’t just open an account with any bank.

It's been over 5 yrs I last withdrew using an atm machine. I either withdraw over the counter or via a pos agent depending on the amount.
