I served in Iwo and one thing I learned, which you should learn too is that Iwoland or Iwo Kingdom is beyond Iwo Local Government Area alone. Ile Ogbo might be in Ayedire LGA, but it part of Iwoland. Yes, they have their own Oba, just as Feesu, for example, have their own Oba, but still under Iwoland.

As a kid, I heard a rumour then, that, MKO was in bed with IBB. He supported IBB in many ways:
He took him to all the shrines in Yoruba land (I find this plausible, since MKO was the Aare Ona Kakanfo -Yoruba Generalissimo) to be fortified diabolical.

He supported him with his media outfit, Concord -I think you sighted an example after Buhari was ousted.

He also schemed a move to remove Buhari, then his buddy IBB would emerge and eventually allow a transition of power to him via a democratic election. Also, banning the likes of Chief Awolowo. And Awo wasn't pleased with MKO, that a fellow Ogun Statesman would thwart his chance.

Lastly and very big conspiracy -MKO knew or aided the death of Dele Giwa. I heard that, there was a whiteman (now, I'm thinking probably a foreign journalist or government agent) said, the kind of parcel bomb that was used was not from or made in Nigeria. And it was time sensitive bomb and so, would not have made it to Giwa's residence in Ikeja if it went through the proper inspection at the airport due to the time customs and immigration officials would have used. But, can only make it on time to Giwa if it was brought in via a plane owned by a very powerful individual whose plane/cargo doesn't pass through those checks and MKO was the only one at that time.
