When you come into a new position, since you've never been there before, it is common sense to bring your immediate subordinates , who are supposed to make your job easier, to your side (and in this case, the state house of assembly) and make them see your vision and carry them along in whatever you do.

But he missed out on that while going overboard to get back at the person who brought him to power and some people actually encouraged him! Quite funny.

Now, righting the wrongs would have him exerting more effort than he ordinarily should.

When I read comments written by so-called educated adults, I pity the future of Nigeria. How can Wike, Tinubu, Fubara be your ideal political model. Don't you see that it's about personal interest and not about service? If politics was not expensive in Nigeria, do you think some of this men won't be gatemen or security guards? Let's be collective in our pursuit of holding public office holders accountable and stop all this foolishness of supporting a politician whose only desire is to enrich himself,family and close associates. I listened to the national Assembly spokesman and I was covered in shame. How did this man get to this place. Very shameful for a country with educated and eloquent citizens. Is not better he spoke in Yoruba? Look for a skill and learn, be productive and stop coming to nairaland to defend people that care less if you ate a healthy breakfast

The constitution clearly states that the State House of Assemblies have the power to extend the tenure as of LGA Chairmen for 6 months pending the conduct of election. It gave a clause, that if elections cannot be conducted before the expiration of their tenures. You cannot appoint an unelected official into an elective office. Fubara is going against the law because both who he is appointing now and a CTC is one and thesame thing under the law. Besides the Rivers House of Assembly already extended the tenure of the former chairmen by 6 months but Fubara chased them out of office and appointed CTC chairman to take over pending when he’ll conduct elections. Do you understand now?

Had Nigeria been practicing TRUE federalism, the central gov’t has no business determining how LGs should be run! The component parts that add up to make a federation are THE STATES, and not the states and local gov’ts! Each state should be able to determine how many local go’ts they want and fund them accordingly….or the LGs fund themselves! How things are presently are an aberration….just like in pretty much every other aspect of governance in Nigeria!
