SHEY I TOLD YOU PEOPLE TO BUY DOLLARSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I HOPE YOU DID ?
I personally wouldn't buy dollars to keep. That's not the best option this year.

Nigeria's economic fundamentals are a lot stronger today than they were last year when the naira was all over the place.

Naira is standing on a stronger footing now. Barring any calamitous economic or political event, naira will remain stable for most of this year.

Any fall in Naira this year is likely to be moderate. There is far greater chance of naira gaining to around N1450 later this year, than it falling to N1650/N1700 for example.

You're better off putting your money in Nigerian Stocks than buying dollars with the hope of a big drop in naira value.

World Bank offers Nigeria forex rate advice, as Tinubu eyes N200/Dollar rate[

April 23, 2023

The President-elect said he would work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to *bring down the exchange rate to N200 in his first term.*

“My administration will collaborate with the Central Bank to harmonize the fiscal and monetary policy to achieve immediate stabilization of the value of the naira against the US dollars and other currencies and in the short term, strengthen the naira by boosting the supply of foreign currency and moderating demand.

“The short-term goal is to achieve a naira/dollar rate of 300 naira/US$ and gradually achieve a less than 200 naira rate over the next four years, Tinubu stated.

Crude oil price at the international market has been falling in recent days and weeks.

Good news - Dangote and other refineries will probably reduce petrol price again within the next 2 - 3 weeks.

Bad news - Naira will start falling (slowly) because falling crude oil price means Nigeria's crude related earnings will fall.

The United States economy is also weakning and may go into recession. A weakened US economy combined with warmer weather in the US and Europe will likely mean less demand for crude and continuing reduction in crude oil prices in the coming weeks and months.

If crude oil price hits $65 per barrel, petrol prices in Nigeria could fall to around N750 per litre.

But naira may fall to around N1600.

Hmm
Oga, dem no dey use big prick threaten old grandma ... Nigerians are at that stage

we have seen dollar almost cross to 2k and fuel price was above 900 ..

if Pms should come as low as 750 and dollar at ticks 1600 it will still reflect + impact ... power is the main catalyst in production

Speculators, cut your losses and sell your dollars now smiley
They already did when the price started dropping to 1600. Some started buying back already.

Sell when it's high, buy back when it's low.

Not when there is a corresponding drop in FX reserves of about $2.2 billion. That already tells a lot about your economy.

The CBN was forced to defend the Naira despite the FX influx from "Detty December" because of the ripple effect of Trump's victory.

Trump is also about to ramp up shale oil production to crash crude oil prices again. This will lead to greater devaluation of the Naira or massive depletion of FX reserves to sustain the Naira.

So you don't only look at your local indices. The global economy sadly has more power to negatively affect your local indices overnight.

Oh, I wouldn't advise you to trade in stocks if you don't have the heart to bear the losses from such a high-risk investment. Stick to money market instruments instead. If you invest like ₦300 million, you'll get around a 21% return; like ₦5 million every month.
