Bluntemperor:
Truth be told - the Federal Govt has failed in the Power Sector,as this govt is concerned!
Imagine a Power Minister - who cannot answer basic things on DISCOS,so why don't you kuku,- Disband the DISCOS?
- how many Transformers do we have now, since he took over as Minister of Power?
• How many Prepaid Metres - do we have now,in Nigeria, since he is a Minister-of Power?
•The Present DISCOS and GENCO are Paddy - Paddy and we don't need that- for Nigeria Industrialization, because they are very Corrupt.
• Our Youths,Our Children can not do any Meaningful work during the Day and during the Night,🌉- since 1960,yet the Power Minister is talking about Ramadan Steady Light-so After Ramadan nko,we revert to same Darkness,as usual!
Nonsensical People Everywhere.
We should call on Elon Musk - to Come and Rescue Power Sector in Nigeria
You are very correct

Everything becomes rocket science in nigeria

We have all the major sources of energy in nigeria, hydro, gas, solar, coal

Still power na problem - imagine

Poor leadership and corruption

Why can't prepaid meter be bought the way we buy phones from stores and the disco configure it

But no

You correct bro

Beat them silly..
They extract as much money as possible from the masses while not supplying electricity as they should.
Since the government won't checkmate them, and they seldom listen yo nobody, let the koboko of the military tall to them..
Maybe they will listen..
The reason why we don't have light is because the power companies don't earn as much money as they should.

40 % of Nigerians do not pay for the power they use, including our president. Most of the rest underpay. Only 20% pay market tarrif for power, ie the band A people, and some on band A do not even pay.

Plus as a result of poor revenues many of the discos are forced to rip off consumers in the name of estimated billing in order to survive.

Infact it is so bad that there are large swathes of the country where people pay less than 2000 a month for power, even of they used 50000 worth of power.

Metering does not make things better. People bypass the meter and refuse to pay.

If you were running a business selling provisions and less than 20% of your customers pay full price for product and the rest do not pay or pay as lpw as one tenth of the price, will your business survive.?

Would you accept someone flogging you for the poor service that would result?

I am not here to defend tinubu, or to excuse anything nor do I work for the power companies.

Truth of the matter is no large community such as military cantoments, barracks, general hospitals, public universities, secondary and primary schools etc can afford to pay the current electricity tariff. Imagine the ikedc bill for eg ikeja cantoment where you have multitude of personnel with families, offices, facilities. If we can complain we buy 5-10k units a day in our appartments, those places can have bills of as high as 300m monthly.

Nigerian security forces are not qualified to be security forces in any sane country. They are either extreme islamics and tribalist forces or home/roadside armed robbers.

As much as the electrical power companies in Nigeria are corrupt and incompetent, they don't deserve this type of disrespect.

So how else are we going to have light?

If we cannot pay bills because they are too high, the only option left is massive loans or power supply remains poor.

Joke apart, Nepa officials deserved better beating. Since yesterday we don't have light and we will still pay every month. If transformer spoil you won't see them. We are the one to contribute money to repair it or buy new one before we can see light again. All they are after is money. They don't care if maintaining those transformer. But if it's company transformer they will always service or replace them when they get issue.
when will you understand that ikedc don't generate power? They only distribute what is available. Go beat the Gencos if you need change. Ikedc can only distribute what is available. They can't even undercut it, it's exactly what is given they have to dish out if not it affects frequency which leads to grid collapse

Fake military men.
These are nothing but Mami market soldiers.
The only thing they know is to drink burukutu.

Instead to take over Aso Rock and let all this suffering stop.
What a waste

Yeah I get your point. I think the issue is inflation. Electricity companies still have to get their equipment at international prices, hard currency and so must increase charges.
Meanwhile the consumers have had their purchasing power reduced as salaries have not increase commensurate with inflation.
Eg minimum wage was 25k 10 years ago, 5k or $37 nepa bill monthly. Today if monthly min wage is 80k $37 is about N55k
So 10 years ago you used 20% of minimum wage, today you use 68.75% of minimum wage! E no balance.
Inflation has to be brought down to increase purchasing power for citizens while also enabling power companies fund their operations. Reduced inflation with ensure long term low interest rates which will assist power companies raise funds to upgrade their facilities and run capital projects instead of the current 25-30% interest rates that forces power companies to use revenue to fund capital projects.
I heard we are doing 2m barrels per day, fuel, electricity subsidy removed, importation stopped as dangote refinary is on, oil prices have increase to $80+, why then has the naira not appreciated massively?
Anyway, let's be positive and hopeful.
