Sen. Ned Nwoko’s Bill to Establish Federal College of Agriculture in Idumuje-Ugboko, passes first reading.

The Nigerian Senate has commenced deliberations on a critical legislative proposal to establish the Federal College of Agriculture, Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State. Sponsored by Senator Ned Munir Nwoko (Delta North), the bill is designed to institutionalize advanced agricultural training, research, and extension services, equipping Nigerians with the technical expertise required to modernize the sector.

The bill, which passed its first reading on Wednesday, March 5, outlines a robust framework for the college to offer diploma, degree, and professional certification programs in agriculture and related disciplines. Beyond academic instruction, the institution will play a pivotal role in conducting research, disseminating innovative farming techniques, and fostering strategic collaborations with both local and international organizations to drive agricultural development.

Agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, and the establishment of this specialized institution underscores the Federal Government’s recognition of its transformative potential. The proposed college will serve as a hub for agricultural innovation, providing Nigerians with the skills necessary to enhance productivity, implement modern farming techniques, and contribute significantly to national food security.

Senator Nwoko, in the explanatory memorandum, underscored the urgent need for this institution, particularly in light of prevailing challenges in food production and sustainability. He emphasized that the Federal College of Agriculture, Idumuje-Ugboko, will not only equip young Nigerians with practical knowledge but will also serve as a catalyst for youth empowerment and rural economic development.

This initiative represents a decisive step toward repositioning agriculture as a driver of economic growth and national development. With a dedicated focus on research and extension services, the institution will bridge existing knowledge gaps, ensure the adoption of best practices, and support the country’s food sufficiency agenda.

Hon. Gloria Okolugbo
Director Communications
Office of Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko.

Very apt location for college of agriculture (a.k.a Polytechnic)
That whole area has a lot of farmers and farm settlements. Even people all the way from Imo are leasing land and going into agriculture there.
I know in due time it will end up upgraded to uni agric. Kudos
Added to his uni sports, his constituency is getting more tertiary institutions to enhance biz & development.

Despite liking women so much, Ned Nwoko is one of the most active senators in that house. INEC needs to enlighten people on how to recall their useless reps and senators.

So he will acquire the land where the school will be situated. Then build the school cause he has the money too. Then turn his Ned nwoko gardens to INDUSTRIAL TRAINING CENTRE??

Nigerians don't need school.
Honestly Nigerians dont need education. We just want to know that survival is for the fittest and education don't teach that shit.
