Enugu Government Bans 'unlawful Pasting Of Posters' Sets ₦‎50 Million by Tabithatim(op): 7:48am On Mar 07, 2025
Failure to comply with this directive will attract a fine of up to N50million.

The Enugu State government has announced a ban on the unlawful pasting of posters on outdoor surfaces and spaces within the state.

According to a statement issued by the Enugu State Structures for Signages and Advertisement Agency (ENSSAA), prior approval is now mandatory for posting or displaying posters in public or private areas.

"This is to inform all that henceforth, no person or entity should post or display any poster without first obtaining the written approval of ENSSAA," the statement reads.

Failure to comply with this directive will attract a fine of up to N50million.

The statement signed by Frank Aninwike, General Manager of ENSSAA, emphasised that the agency would no longer tolerate the defacing of outdoor surfaces and spaces.

According to him, the ban is empowered by the ENSSAA Law, 2016, which regulates the posting and display of posters on outdoor surfaces and spaces.

The statement partly read, “This is to inform all the political parties, churches, schools, printers, advertisers, marketers, producers and the general public that henceforth, no person or entity should post or display any poster on public or private structures, buildings, walls, highways or any outdoor surface or space within Enugu State without first obtaining the written approval of Enugu State Structures for Signages and Advertisement Agency (ENSSAA).

“Failure to comply with this directive amounts to a violation of Section 4(1,g), Section 33, and Section 34(4,9) of the ENSSAA Law, 2016, which empowers the Agency to control the posting and display of posters on outdoor surfaces and spaces, and to make regulations on the subject matter of this notice.

“Please note that pasting or displaying of poster without first obtaining the written approval of ENSSAA shall attract a fine of up to Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000) only.

“We therefore urge all concerned to kindly comply with this directive as ENSSAA will no longer tolerate the defacing of outdoor surfaces and spaces,” it added.

Good one! When watching recent clips of Enugu city, i notice how the scenic ambience of the city is ruined by the repetitive pasting of posters on tunnel walls, medians, roundabouts and just about any other space they can find! I noticed this especially when passing through that tunnel that leads from the airport road to Chime avenue.

That you’re getting a boner and sense of fulfilment because Ondo is littoral and Enugu isn’t says all that needs to be said about your poverty of ambition and small-mindedness!

So what of other south-west states that don’t have this ‘holy grail’ that Lagos, Ogun and Ondo have? When are you going to mock them? The entire north nko? When will you mock them too? Or is it just Ndigbo/south-east that’s on your mind 24/7? A lot of the things you brag about that make you feel all smug and ‘superior’ are nothing more than the result of the distortions in a federal structure and political-economy designed and sustained to primarily favour the Yoruba/Hausa-Fulani hegemonic alliance while at the same time cheating and marginalising the Igbo/south-east! You see these distortions and blatant cheating play out in almost all aspects and sectors of national life: census….a desert region awash with insecurity and islamic fundamentalism and which doesn’t even have oyel and gas somehow managed to be more populated than the coastal region that’s relatively peaceful, awash in hydrocarbons and has a seaport driven economy; state creation by military fiat that gives the semi-arid north more states and LGs than the lush green southern region that’s the goose laying the golden egg…and not forgetting that it was two southern and one northern region that joined to form a ‘independent’ Nigeria; quota-system that constantly rewards indolence and olodoism while punishing the brightest; federal allocation based on large, useless landmass, questionable population numbers, and number of military created LGs; disproportionately favouring a select number of entrepreneurs and portfolio-contractors based mainly on ethno-religious considerations, while at the same time shortchanging and sabotaging the efforts and business of others not so favoured; etc-etc/etc!

Dude, if you want to brag and mock others, be sure to do it based on your own honest and individual effort, and not based on parochial and hegemonic advantages you have cornered for yourself using ‘one Nigeria’!
