Man Who Served His Oga For Seven Years Settled With Only ₦‎500,000 by TimeManager(op): 8:39pm On Mar 08, 2025
A Nigerian man said when he completed his apprenticeship in 2021, he was given only N500,000 by his Oga.

The man said his father heard the news and developed a stroke and he has not recovered from it since that time

However, the man said, despite the amount of money he was settled with, his business has started thriving.

A Nigerian man is happy that his business is thriving despite the fact that his Oga did not give him plenty of money.

According to a video he posted on TikTok, @Prozik said he completed his apprenticeship in 2021, after which he went to start his own business.

But Prozik said he was settled with N500,000, an amount some people considered too small.

According to him, his father fell ill with a stroke after the news reached him that his son had received N500k.

He said:

“My Dad have not recovered from the stroke he felt since 2021 when he heard that I was settled with 500k after serving for 7 years, not knowing that I will make it this big.quick recovery Dad.

“For those that will start doubting, this is my second shop opened in August 23rd 2024.,I started with a small shop in a local area on 20th of August 2021 with 500k.”

You can't convince me otherwise, I will still stand on my point that this apprenticeship is slavery. If you check am well, he fit dey do one kind corner-corner doings to help himself. "Making it this big" sounds like a pressure on him with the burden of a dad lying down with stroke partly as a result of how his son's boss treated his son. He has to be responsible for his dad's treatment and also start a business with a meagre 500k. A lot of these boys are into Yahoo, powder business, & other stuff.

I would say the safest way of settling an apprentice is to be putting a portion of your profits in a separate account for the entire period of the apprenticeship, so that whether your business faces challenges or not, the settlement money is secure. Some people don’t understand this savings/financial system, and when it’s time to settle their apprentices, if their business is facing challenges at the time, they start telling stories.

Igbos have a reputation of being very successful with this apprenticeship style of business. People who want to use this type of settlement should understand how it’s done. It’s a similar principle to the retirement savings plans done in the US, UK and elsewhere

Settlement of big money isn't the yard stick of success in a business, some ogas will settle with big money but wouldn't show you the real deal where they make most of their money from that same business, after running down your business after two years you start saying your oga cursed money and settled you.

On the other side, and oga will settle you with lesser amount of money but will seat you down and hunt you on everything you need to be successful on a particular business.

500k is small but the way igbo apprenticeship works... If you re good you don't even need money to stock your shop .... Just open it

Some boss hit hard times and can't settle so they rent shop for their boys and guarantee for the shop to be supplied by suppliers

But there should be a standard minimum to settle a boy... Anyone who fails should be banned from taking up another boy

That's life for you....

Now the funniest part may be surprising to find out that he may even be living well than his so-called oga, both business-wise and in all sundry ....

But all I can see here is determination, focus and a No-giving-up kind of Spirit he possessed on his own part, and it finally paved way for his success..

Sharrap there
The money is just a little percentage of the reward
Other packages include: knowledge, business intelligence, connections etc. All these can turn a thousand to millions

See how far that guy has gone with the 500k. He is now worth millions

You can focus on your agbero job, you shouldn't have an opinion on something you know absolutely nothing about

It’s usually safer to put the money away bit by bit in a separate account for the number of years the apprenticeship will last

The real deal in the settlement is not all about the money but rather the experience, knowledge, endurance, contacts and connections established during the training. You can always come back a few years to settle your boss after doing business with his contacts and connections.

If we had responsible governments, a type of apprenticeship settlement system would’ve been opened in Nigeria, similar to the way developed countries have retirement accounts for workers, since it’s a common way of business in parts of Nigeria. Once you hire an apprentice, you both formalize an apprenticeship agreement, and an account is opened for that purpose.

Cosmas maduka was settled with 200naira today he is a billionaire. Money plays less that 20% of your success in business.. why would your father develop stroke? Has he not lived his life? Why will your settlement capital make him sick? I don’t understand it..

One Oyo State Muslim lady, Aderonke was posted to my establishment for her youth service in 2022 and I sent her to learn how to do business in our warehouse and she was happy after the end of her service for what she learned.

Fast forward to 2025, she is doing business in a large way different from her course of study. It's all about the knowledge, experience, contacts and connections.

One thing about this igbaboy that most people who are not into it do not understand is that igbaboy is like a spiritual and mental fortification process .. the money is more or less a capping.. Ordinary young school leavers that their parents beg and bring to my place just to keep them busy for some months while awaiting admission or youth service find themselves good footings in life ..some no even dey find job again sef after their service... How much more nwaboy that has undergone serious grilling and grounding in the biz. Somebody u have exposed to your customers, contacts and your suppliers..

A true trader..even if u take everything away but just leave his health and vigour intact will bounce back in a year... How much more a fresh young kid brimming with hunger ,ideas and zeal..

Thanks for proving this with this story u brought here

Re: Man Who Served His Oga For Seven Years Settled With Only ₦‎500,000 by kettykings:
The N500k is not the big deal. The real treasure lies in the business acumen an apprentice gains during their training.

That knowledge is priceless in some industries, like the high-demand spare parts trade.
It holds the potential to generate billions. And as for the marketing and salesmanship expertise an apprentice acquires? That’s a conversation for another day.

If you want to understand how the Igbos bounced back so rapidly from the devastation of the Nigerian Civil War, look no further than the Igbo Apprenticeship System (IAS). It was the foundation of their economic resurgence. This system must not only be preserved but also refined and expanded beyond trade into blue-collar, white-collar, and even tech-driven industries.

In the industry where I operate, it is called mentorship or protegeship. Every expert in ever field must pour out his industry secrets to his igbo apprenticeship, which og the secrets are to dicey , must be his children.

In fact, imagine the transformative power of making it mandatory for every young Igbo male or female to undergo a structured apprenticeship—lasting six months to a year—before stepping into the university.

The ripple effects and economic footprint it will have on economic empowerment, skill development, and generational wealth creation can only be imagined

Maybe his oga has been suspecting him of keeping something somewhere.
The story is not always smooth. It is the same in every area of life.
Maybe Oga had a business hiccup recently..
Or maybe he is just evil..

That is not enough excuse for you to categorise a business practice that has made thousands of millionaires as "slavery"..

Looks like after cornering everything, agbadorians are now going to fight with the igbo man in the markets

COMRADES, in 2021 Nigerian currency has value that's why he made it; if it were now under the incompetent Tinubu he was given the said amount, he would know what's up because the Naira as of today is as worthless as toilet paper

What a shame

Watch how some people from the east will come and defend this. This nwa boy system of apprenticeship needs to scrapped. It doesn't serve any purpose in this modern era, it just slavery.

Noooo! This is pure cheating! The relevant authority should intervene for the boy. N500k after 7 years! N500k in this economy! How much be shop?
