NORTHERNERS SLAM YORUBAS OVER 21-DAY CURFEW FOR ALAAFIN’S 'ORO IPEBI' RITUALS AHEAD OF CORONATION

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zjop_DsB98
In this video, we’re diving into the heated debate surrounding the 21-day curfew in Oyo State for the Alaafin’s 'Oro Ipebi' rituals ahead of his coronation. This curfew, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. between March 7 and March 29, has sparked reactions, especially from some Northerners who are calling it hypocrisy.

Now, here’s the issue—some Northerners argue that when governors in the North shut down schools for Ramadan, many in the South were against it. But now, the Alaafin’s seclusion is restricting movement for both Christians and Muslims who are not traditionalists, and they’re asking—why the double standard?

NEWSPOST TV reports that critics say in the North, major decisions like closing schools for Ramadan were made without consulting stakeholders, but in the South, traditional practices are deeply respected, regardless of religion. In Yoruba land, tradition comes first before religion—Muslims, Christians, and traditionalists have coexisted for years, with mutual respect for cultural practices.

Some argue that in the North, organizations like Hisbah enforce religious laws without considering others, while in the South, traditional rulers ensure that cultural practices do not interfere with religious activities. Unlike in the North, where religious laws are imposed, Yoruba traditionalists make accommodations for everyone, ensuring religious freedom.

So, is this really hypocrisy, or is it just a cultural difference? Guys, I’ll let you watch this video for yourself so you can see exactly what I’m talking about. Also, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to this channel if you haven’t already done so.

Take a look, guys, and remember to share your thoughts after watching!

It's because whether they work or not, they will get their monthly allocations, that's why someone will wake up and declare a month long curfew and the government will stand hands akimbo. If their budget is based on their locally generated incomes, they would told Alafin to pipe low

Stop deceiving yourself, even in England that is more civilized than Nigeria, it’s only a single family that has been ruling them and the King performs the following functions:
1. The King is the head of the Commonwealth, which includes Nigeria.
2. He appoints the Prime Minister and all the other ministers.
3. He opens new sessions of the parliament.
4. He gives assent to bills passed by the parliament, including the ones regulating your stay in England.
5.He appoints Judges and Magistrates.
6. He dissolves the parliament at the request of the prime minister.
If a single family has been wielding such enormous powers in England that is even our former colonial masters, why are you bothered about an issue as insignificant as sighting of the moon, before the commencement of an event (Ramadan) that does not even concern you.

It would be much appreciated and enrich your knowledge if you address the substance and leave the shadows. Your ignorance is understandable, logically speaking nobody takes permission from anybody before sighting the moon, as the moon comes out naturally.
There are now modern equipment for early moon sighting, you are only to inform the appropriate authorities, as requested.

The King is constitutionally obliged to follow the government’s advice.

I agree with their view. We Nigerians are hypocritical in our assessment of issues. We are against closure of schools for Allah's sake, but till tomorrow, Ikorodu people will still be held down from moving around because some unseen misogynistic shy god doesn't want to see women and non-indigenes on the street. If Ikorodu gods do not want to see women and non-indigene, why force western education on those who consider it haram? Two wrongs can co-exist ✌️

The same way the Federal Government consults the Sultan before declaring public holidays for Nigerian Muslims. It’s not whimsical, like a single family that wields enormous power over the three arms of government in England, I.e. the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary, as well as the Commonwealth which even includes Nigeria for that matter and you are here lamenting about the Sultan whose main duties are merely spiritual.
Do you know that by virtue of being the head of the Commonwealth, the King also gives instructions which are binding on us without our inputs and you stay here sweating over Sultan whose spiritual directives are inconsequential to you.
