Seriously, if you must install solar on a rented apartment, you should use a stand to elevate the panes-

People in the field should improvise on ways to reduce potential hazards rather than an outright ban on the roofs.

The cause of burning solar panels like the picture depicts above is when the solar power is being overloaded.
They help in calculating the load your solar panel can carry, if it can't be enough, you shed your appliances. Use 1 for some hours before changing etc.

am too certain that fire was not causes by that solar panels .

The only issue would be that the solar installer should be experts and agreement should be signed.......

I know someone whose house got burnt last year... lost 100 - 200 million Naira.

I didn’t want anyone to destroy my Gerald roof during the solar installation.

I built a separate shed for the solar panel and i can even sit under the shed to be chilling during the day and night

What are the possibilities of a solar panel going up in flames on a roof is this a common phenomenon or is it unusual? I have plans to get one soon.

This happens when
1. The design is faulty
2. Safety protection devices against short circuit, overloading and thunderstrike are not installed
However, most landlords do not want their roof to be drilled or pierced, that is the actual reason they do not encourage tenants to install solar panel on the roof of their houses.

As a landlord I can never allow my tenants install solar on the roof, as a tenant I can't even think about installing solar on our roof.

As Africans why do we focus on the negative when it comes to progressive things. There is a 0.01% chance of this happening, and was an investigation done to find the issue and address it rather than total ban? if it’s one backward thing now we will look past the bad sides and embrace it.
