There is nothing like 'Judas' in Nigerian politics.

Even the presidential candidate of PDP-Atiku had previously left PDP for ACN before returning to PDP.
Saraki too left for APC and when things didnt go his way, he ran back to PDP.

El rufai contesting will divide Tinubu's northern votes, but won't fetch him much if Atiku is also on ballot.

That is why Elrufai is canvassing for a new alliance between the North and South South, to emerge the winner by slim margin.

Peter Obi is guaranteed SE votes, Tinubu is guaranteed SW votes, The north is still deciding, SS / Rivers is really important to Tinubu, that is why Wike is where he is now and allowed to trouble a sitting governor.

Well, I don't think the North is still deciding! They have a better deal waiting for 4 years for a Shettima/Ribadu/? presidency than gambling their chance on another northerner like an ElRufai or an Atiku. My submission is based on recents political alignments we see in our polity plus the recent reduction in insecurity up North among other development up north!

El Rufai strength is in the fact that despite he is very very good at mobilising string northern politicians ,he has that ability and that is one reason many groups that he belonged to have benefitted . We can remember how mobilised govs and others to support Tinubu when he was campaigning and how he mobilised govs and people against the new naira notes then.
we will have to see how his ability and strength weighs up against President Tinubu .
Although I still believe somehow he is working for Tinubu reelection indirectly by trying to break the opposition into pieces

Never trust any politician, he might be working for Tinubu with a promise ticket in 2031.

No notherner will like to be on ballot with Tinubu as president for just 4 years. Also, they are not likely going to support another southerner who may attempt to keep them off power for another 8 years. This could be a game plan to divide opposition votes yet again.

With this movement, Tinubu's sojourn in the North has been dealt a fatal blow. Where will his 5.6m northern votes come from? SDP will adopt Atiku for the Presidency. Mind you that Atiku's 2023 votes remain largely untouched. He's now set to consolidate on his margins especially in the North. Can Tinubu do the same in the South, especially with the probability of Peter Obi contesting as well? I think not. 2027 will be a 3-horse race and this time, every region will largely vote for their own son. The region with the largest voting bloc shall triumph. If a coalition with Obi materialises, the election will be over before 12 noon.

Area boys calculated that Elrufai will run for the Presidency in 2027. That was the advise they gave to Tinubu that made him sideline and humiliate Elrufai, his most vocal Northern supporter thinking he will leave the APC to go contest for the Presidency in another party, thereby splitting Northern votes. It was a miscalculation! Northerners will largely vote one-way in 2027 and it will not be for Tinubu. Elrufai need not be on the ballot to influence things. We will all learn politics together.

PBAT won last election with money, as he has a lot of it, and support from Northern elders, but now he appears to be loosing that support.

One important factor that some analysts are underestimating is the "incumbent power". Such power combined with money in the hand of a strategist like PBAT could make so much difference.

Let's just wait and see.
