At this juncture, I'll believe the locals over Govt or Police statements over this matter.
Obviously an attack happened and several lives were lost. The government of the day is trying so hard to cover up this genocide happening in Ondo State.

How can you say it is fake news? The earlier Ondo State government come to terms that invaders are in Ondo State kidnapping and killing people, the better. Within the past four weeks, more than 20 people have been kidnapped in Oba Ile, Akure, axis alone. Today in Akure, women are protesting 9 IT survey students who were kidnapped since last Friday, also in the same axis. What I don't seem to understand is what has happened to Amotekun within this past months.

Fulani herdsmen killed 14 in Ebonyi, the governor rushed to the media to say that it was not Fulanis.
Benue, more than 11 killed, and a government official was also quick to exonerate the Fulani herdsmen.
Ondo the same.

You will expect journalists to visit the site of the alleged crime, talk with relatives who ha e lost loved ones, get the names and pictures of the dead and post those in their news.
