Mystine:Can you still make it tomorrow.. Here's how my journey will go From Ikorodu To Mile 2 Waterside. I'll join a ferry to Port Novo (2hours on water). Then pick a car from Port Novo To Aflao (Ghana Togo Border).. Not Spending Up To #100,000 for Transport on this Trip |

What a journey! I really wish to try the road trip to Ghana as well. I was in Accra last year January. I went by flight though. I was on an assignment for my company. I stayed for a week an Ibis Style Hotel close to the airport. Because it was a company trip, I couldn't explore the city like you. I was picked from the hotel in the morning and dropped in the evenings. By that time, I was tired and can't even think of going out. In the office, during lunch hour, I had opportunities to try different Ghanian foods. I can't even remember any of the name now. Lol. I agree with you, Accra is less chaotic than Lagos. People are friendly and accommodating. Another striking thing is power supply throughout Ghana is better compared to Nigeria. My fight to and fro was in the evening. Up there in the sky, Ghana was brightly lit at night. Nigeria sky at night is quite the opposite. You will see clusters of light here and there. There are more darkness clusters, however, indicating no power supply at many locations. I will disagree with you on the bribing aspect though. You see, before I left for the trip, I had made arrangement for my yellow card. Unknown to me, it was fake. At the airport in Accra, you could see the faces of the immigration officials lit when they discovered it. And oh they were good at discovering fakes. We then began negotiations on what I will give to them to allow me pass. The lady asked for $20. I could have parted with the money, but I had $100 bills on me. I called a colleague at our Accra branch an he told me to negotiate in cedis. But then, I had not changed some dollars to cedis. Eventually, we settled at meeting the next day outside of the airport to get the money. I can't remember the amout now but it was less than the $20 initially demanded. Also the Official assisted in getting the original done while I was there and brought it to me in the office by the 3rd day. In all, it was a nice experience and I am considering going there for a 2 week vacation later this year. I don't know if I will be able to endure the 17hrs road journey though ![]() One more thing- In the office over there, we also debated about Ghana Jollof rice and Nigeria Jollof rice. I doubt if the row will ever end ![]() |

newman10:You had a lovely experience too, though you didn't explore.. As for the yellowcard.. the corruption experienced on land border is crazier that what you bargained for at the airport. You should try the road trip.. it's worth every bit of it.. |

Keeping this post alive I embarked on a road trip to Accra Ghana. Used one of those popular transport companies. Cost between 81000-85000 one-way (depending on the time of booking). Passport is held by the bus company until you get to your destination and a yellow card wasn't asked for ( maybe due to the scarcity of the card). I didn't enjoy the road trip. It is something that I won't try anymore. |

Madeu:I guess the yellow card is scarce then, cause they prefer to ask for it than some valid means of identity sef. Why didn't you enjoy the road trip, was that your first time?.. Maybe you weren't used to traveling by road. Road trips are my best bet |

divinetouch24:I came in from Europe, and i love road trip. The roads were bumping, lots of stop over due to checks from bribe seeking officer. It was worse in Ghana. The environment wasn't stimulating full of disorganize driving and poor building planning . In road trip in Europe, one can see beautiful lush green garden, plains, hills, valley and waterfall. |

Madeu:Definitely, you cannot compare road trips in Europe to those in Africa . But you shouldn't say Ghana is disorganised, what you going to say about Naija then |
