A protest has erupted in Akure, Ondo State, following the gruesome killing of over 20 farmers by suspected herdsmen in Akure North Local Government Area over the weekend.

The protesters are also demanding justice for the kidnapping of 9 surveyors in Ilu-Abo, Akure South.

The protesters, who gathered in front of the Governor's office in Akure, are calling on the authorities to take immediate action to address the rising insecurity in the region.

The killing of the farmers and the kidnapping of the surveyors have sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents expressing fear and outrage.

This protest is not an isolated incident, as there have been previous demonstrations in Ondo State against insecurity and violence.

Women in the state have protested half-naked over the killing of farmers by suspected herdsmen, demanding justice and an end to the attacks.

Who knows the thousands of innocent people living in Yoruba villages these herdsmen would have been butchering daily that goes unreported ? The real situation on Yoruba ancestral homelands now that they are focused on Lagos might be worse than the carnage going on in plateau, benue and southern kaduna but goes unreported due to media suppression, lies and propaganda because I remember they kidnapped olu falae in 2015 and almost killed him, killed Afenifere daughter in 2019 and there are many villages that have been sacked in Ogun and oyo and their indigenes have been refugees in Benin republic since 2021

Unfortunately, Ondo State at the moment has no governor. What they have is just a figure head dunce who has nothing to show as achievement after almost 2 years in power. Mr Lucky as of today is one of the worst performing governors in Nigeria and the most useless governor in Southwest. I won't blame him though, I'll rather blame these same people that are now protesting. These are the same people that sold their votes for 10k each. I hope those 10ks will sustain and secure your lives for the next 4 years.
