SDP of today is not the same party as SDP of 1992. They just have the same name. SDP of 1992 ceased to exist when Abacha truncated and banned all political parties. The current SDP was created long after Tinubu had served 2 terms as governor. SDP did not exist in 1999, I think it was created around 2014. The old SDP was a creation of Babangida. They just have the same name to revive the spirit of old SDP which itself is an irony because it was a creation of the military and the original members are in other parties. Basically it was created to cash in.

AD to ACN is like Buhari’s ANPP to CPC.
Technically you are right that they “jumped” ship but they left to form their own party as opposed to jumping to another established party.
