The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that the ‘original’ Ijaw people, such as the Kalabaris, kicked against him making Siminalayi Fubara the governor of Rivers State because he is from Opobo.

According to him, he was confronted that if he wants to make someone of Ijaw origin the governor of Rivers, it shouldn’t be someone from Opobo, who are not regarded as real Ijaw people.

Wike said but for his benevolence Fubara stood no chance of ever becoming the governor of Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor stated this during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, saying the Ijaw people in Rivers State did not appreciate his kind gesture.

“Out of our own benevolence we allowed it. I said, gentlemen, we are working as a team.

“When people do something to bring everybody together, you appreciate it. In fact, when I bought this governor, they said, no, if you are talking about Ijaws it should come to the Kalabaris if you want to give governor to the Ijaws and not Opobo. You see the problem?

“But you closed your eyes and you did it. All those who fought me, who said, ‘no,’ we can’t accept this, now parade themselves around him, hanging around him, taking his money,” Wike said.

Anyway divide and rule works very well in Nigeria so he's exploring that.

If you have chosen someone else, by now, the entire house members gallivanting right now would have been non existent, it won't even get to supreme Court. In the end, it's the people of the so called Rivers state that will suffer. Remember it's their money that's being openly and brazenly shared. If the people of the so called Rivers state attempt to challenge this oppression, they'll be blackmailed with the Igbo tag. Such reminder raises a sense of guilt which denies them the moral fortitude to fight this kind of battle, same way Wike already tagging Fubara. They will suffer because they live under a false identity and the evil forces who gave them that false identity will continue to have control over them, their affairs and their future, using the likes of Wike who has become a symbol of their age-long deceit to torment and blackmail them, until they rise like Anioma people under Nwoko to reassert their God given identity. It is as simple as that.
