What’s the business of the rest of Niger Delta in the issue? When he says Niger Delta, he’s including Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers in the matter that’s not their business. Wike should confine his claim to Rivers state.

Talking about Rivers state. There are 23 local governments in the state, with the Ijaws occupying 12 local governments. Obviously they are in clear majority in the state.

LGAs in Rivers State:

Abua/Odua, Andoni, Bonny, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru, Ogu /Bolo, Degema, Okrika, Opobo /Nkoro, Egenni in Ahoadawest, Omubaraibi in etche, and Port Harcourt south.

Ikwerre LGAs in Rivers state:

Port Harcourt, Obio-Akpor, Ikwerre, and Emohua.

The Ijaws are in clear majority in Rivers state, while Wike’s ethnic Ikwerres have four local governments. If power has found itself in the hands of the majority Ijaws, they should be allowed to enjoy their turn. It’s nobody’s fault that Wike chose an Ijaw man. He knew what he was running from and what was chasing him. The governor must be allowed to run his state peacefully.

I don't like Wike, but the truth is that the ikwere/igboid part of rivers are majority. Majority is not counted by LGAs but by population, PH alone has more numbers than those places mentioned. Look at past governors and check where they are from.

Are you teaching me the configuration in my state? Rivers state is a diverse State with over 13 nationalities. Ikwerre is a nation that is distinct from Etche, Ahaoda.

Abakiliki, Onitsha et al is a nation under Igbo. Same scenario you painted is also common amongst the ijaws. Kalabari, Okrika, Abua, Andoni, Opobo all have distinct languages but they are under the Ijaw nation.

In Short Dappa Biriye was in the forefront for the creation of Rivers state. When the state was eventually created, the ijaws were the ones calling the shot. First civilian governor Melford Okoli -Ijaw, Second civilian Governor- Chief Rufus Ada George-ijaw

After, Bayelsa ceded from Rivers state and in 1998, it was the ijaws that were calling the shot in the two dominant political parties. Marshal Harry, A. k Dikibo and Alabo Graham Douglas were the founders of PDP in Rivers state. They singlehandedly made Odili the governor. The ijaw had the opportunity of producing the governor of Rivers state in 1999. But the trio that I mentioned, felt that justice should prevail. That was how Odili, from the minority of minority ethnic group was dispatched and made a governor. Meanwhile, Odili was the deputy governor under Chief Rufus Ada George

And Odili having completing his tenure reneged on the upland-Riverine power dichotomy of sharing power, by bringing his political son, Amaechi to be governor. Wike, you are all aware that it was Jonathan and his wife that were instrumental to his emergence as governor.

And it might interest you to know that the ijaws are the only ethnic group in Rivers state that have presence in the three senatorial district in Rivers state.
