The Nasarawa State Police Command is seeking public assistance to identify and reunite two young girls found abandoned near Mararaba Junction, Karu Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the children were discovered by a resident of Ungwan Gwandara on March 12, 2025, at approximately 1700 hours.

Police operatives swiftly responded to the report, recovered the children safely, and brought them to the Mararaba ‘B’ Division.

The girls, identified as Fatima Isah (10 years old) and Halima Isah (8 years old), told police during an interview that they were taken from Kasuwan Bera, Jalingo, Taraba State, by an unknown driver and were forcibly abandoned in Mararaba.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has urged members of the public with any information regarding the children, their families, or the circumstances surrounding their transportation to come forward,” Nansel stated in the statement.

He encouraged anyone with useful information to contact the following:

Divisional Police Officer, Mararaba ‘B’ Division – 08037005201

Divisional Crime Officer – 07034260434

Police Public Relations Officer – 08037461715

Nansel assured the public that all information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

He added that efforts are currently ongoing to trace the children’s families and investigate how they were transported and abandoned.

The Nasarawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all residents, especially vulnerable children.

I am sure you are referring to Muslim Northerners.

The reason is that they are not under obligation to train the children they give birth to .
The girls can marry as early as 13 years and the boys can become Almajiri begging from one state to another or doing hard labour jobs.
