Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike never said he will blow up Nigeria if militants continue threatening to blow up oil pipelines, his media aide, Lere Olayinka has clarified.

In a media chat on Wednesday, the Minister had warned militants to stop threatening to blow up pipelines whenever the federal government takes any decision or make an appointment that didn’t favour them.

His words “Look, all of us know ourselves. You make an appointment of MD of NDDC, they threaten, they will blow pipeline. You make an appointment here, they threaten, they blow pipeline. What kind of country are we in?

“As a sitting president, you’re threatening me that if you follow what the court said, I will blow up everywhere. Let the whole country be blown up. People must learn. Enough is enough! You don’t tell anybody that.”

The Minister’s comment drew flaks from some Nigerians on social media who accused him of inciting violence.

Speaking with TheScrutinyNG, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Minister said the Minister never at anytime threaten to blow up the country if the militants continue their threats.

“The minister never threatened to blow up the country if the militants continue their threats to blow up the pipelines. He only said the militant can’t do anything” Olayinka said.

He is excessively garulous. He talks more than the radio. He can talk non stop for 24 hrs. People who talk too much don't show strategy. Only brawns. I guess he's been called to order, hence the damage control.

True, he didn't say so. He was trying to quote militants who he said said they are threatening to blow up everywhere. The "I'll blow up everywhere" is an attempt to quote militants. He then ended it by daring them to go ahead and blow up the whole country.
