Ijumu LG In Kogi State Shuts Down Market Over Insecurity by Simongm2(op): 6:57pm On Mar 14, 2025
The Ijumu Local Government Council in Kogi State has shut down the Iyara Zango Market, a cattle market, due to insecurity concerns.

Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, confirmed this in an interview with newsmen on Friday.

The closure follows intelligence reports that kidnappers and other criminal elements have been using the market to carry out their nefarious activities.

It was gathered that after the closure of Zango Markets in some parts of the state, especially in Kogi Central, the criminals moved to Iyara.

The Council Chairman stated that the market will remain closed until further notice, as security agencies have been mobilized to enforce the order.

He noted that he has been mandated by the State Governor, Alhaji. Ahmed Usman Ododo, to eradicate criminal elements that give the local government and state a bad image through kidnapping and banditry activities.
According to him, the safety of the people of ljumu and travelers remains his priority, and anyone or group frustrating government efforts will face the wrath of the law.

Fulani will one day get the Tutsi treatment in Nigeria.

Behind this insecurity are rogue FULANI's.

One day they will be evicted to Futa Jalon

When you have an e-diot as a governor these are the type of things that'll be happening. You'll expect a security-porous state like Kogi to have its own state security outfit by now. But the rulers are disconnect from the people; they are only concerned with appealing to the oligarchs from the north and stealing billions from the state coffers. Kogi state is a problem for Ondo state and SW at large.

Ijumu, Kaaba, Aiyetorogbede, Iyamoye, Egbe, Isanlu-Mankutu are well known to me. Close to Eruku, Odoowa, Oke-Opin, Obo, Isapa and Co. Both Kogi and Kwara government should wake up, unless bandits will take over, . grin grin grin grin grin

Fulanis are largely the problem of Nigeria security wise and the Sultan and other Emirs have nothing 5o say about it.
They're concerned with spreading sharia law.
A law that has turned millions of children to begers littered across Nigeria, some with amputated limbs.
Very wicked, devilish and shameless people.

Great. Those rogues shouldn't be accommodated in our communities. Especially in Iluhagba where Mangal Cement plant is located... Influx of hausas and Fulanis infiltrating our bushes is a sensitive security matter. Ijumu local government is known for peaceful coexistence but for bandits,no space...

Instead of addressing the real issues, you're subverting or deflecting blame. How is Kogi state a problem to Ondo and SW? For your information, Fulani (the real perpetrators of these criminal activities) are not from Kogi state. Kogi State is also a victim of the general insecurity in the country.

In case you didn't know, Kogi State is the only state in Nigeria that shares boundaries with almost 10 states across the country. The implications of this are that, if 2 criminals moved from each of these states to Kogi State, then Kogi would have about 20 to deal with.

The original problem is not from Kogi State, so we should deal with the source if we really want to curb it. Additionally, we also need to channel our energy and hold the federal government responsible for their incompetence when it comes to the insecurity affecting the country.

Lest I forget, I'm from Kogi State, and I'm typing this from Kogi State. I can count how many of those Fulani criminals the state government had dealt with. Tell the FG to stop handling those bastards with kid gloves.

undecided

This is what happens when the commander in Chief is useless and incompetent

Insecurity is everywhere
Enugu people are under siege
Ondo, Benue, plateau, etc

no where is safe..

yet we claim to have a government that only buys yatch and bullet proof SUVs for themselves..

Anyone who supports Tinubu is simply mad and blinded by sentiments and raw tribalism

The roads connecting Kogi to Ondo/Ekiti/Kwara are forest-like and while some are lonely, others are very bad, the area under mention is even worse pass. They need to wake up o.

They should clear the bushes, let there be at least 500m visibility on both sides of the roads

What is the air force doing with their helicopter? Taking selfies? Useless military.

Seems you didn't comprehend what I wrote before rushing to reply. Unchecked criminality from Kogi state by Fulani herdsmen is a problem for Ondo state. It's really unfortunate you continue to elect e-diots as governors in that state. I won't be surprised if Ododo actually has Fulani blood. Kogi is a failed state in all ramifications. Very big, resource rich but useless!

That area is so backward. I travelled on that road inside one of the commercial buses from lagos. I had an appointment in Abuja the following day so I decided to travel by road and relish the old time road travel experience to Abuja. By the time we left a town called arigidi akoko, TB Joshua's hometown, we hit a bad road as we entered kogi and guess what? The whole place was desolate and quiet. The network in my phone disappeared grin I was scared . The road should be over 50 years old cos the asphalt was already peeling off.

Na my place o.... Last time I went to the village, I was dumbfounded by the population of Fulani people in the village... It's as if the village is theirs. It was a troubling sight for me as I know what those people are capable of.

There was a case of an indigene who had his privates cut out by a Fulani just because he complained that the cows are eating his crops.

Abeg, make them just dey go.... Those guys are evil, to say the least.

Just the same way you elected the clueless and drug lord to rule over 200 million Nigerians.
There is nothing I don’t understand in your comment, except if you’re implying that you made the comment under the influence of alcohol, you made comment with some brain cells loss.
Like I previously said, deal with the source of the problem instead of deflecting blames. It’s a senseless thing to say that Kogi state is the reason why Ondo and SW are having security challenges.
Why don’t you ask your governor to tighten the borders to Kogi states and also set up security teams to crush the Fulanis terrorizing your state and region?
In case you don’t know how senseless your post is, let me tell you:
Just the same way you’re blaming Kogi state government for the influx of these criminals, the same way Kogi state has every right to blame northern states for allowing them move to Kogi state.
But sensible people don’t look for excuses, but rather tackle the problems.
What the hell is your governor doing?
Thank God you said Ododo has Fulanis blood in him. Maybe that’s why he IS NOT HANDLING them well, but does your governor have Fulans’s blood too?
What about your President? How has he able to handle the insecurity?
Have you forgotten when your president said that Yoruba and Fulanis are one?
Have you forgotten when there was a report that Fulanis attacked and killled some people in Ondo state, but he was asking for a proof?
Your president promised Nigerians security during campaign, where is it today?
When some of you imbeciless hear anything about Kogi, you start having unnecessary orgasm.
If your state that’s probably sharing boundaries with some few state can’t handle your security, how sensible it’s to blame Kogi that’s sharing boundaries with about 10 states in Nigeria?
Mr Man, you have two people to blame: Your governor, and your Drug lord president. Kogi State is not your problem. Its’ high time you started telling your governors to wake up and secure your bother just the same way you expect Kogi state government to secure Kogi State boarder.
You can go ahead and say rubbish once again, and I’ll swiftly reply you as soon as I see it.
Lest I forget, disclose your state just the same way I did so that this dragging can make sense. You can’t be hiding and saying rubbish. Be proud of it and let me know, so that we can keep this going as smoothly as possible.
