Enugu Aligning Development With SDGs, Says Mbah by Tabithatim(op): 7:07am On Mar 15, 2025
Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has said his governance model was in alignment with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as 2030 Agenda in order to ensure the delivery of the democracy dividends in the state.

Mbah, who said this during the hosting of the Regional Stakeholders Consultation on Nigeria’s 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR), South East, at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu, yesterday, disclosed that in compliance with the SDGs, his administration was committed to ensuring zero poverty headcount index, eradication of hunger through food security, affordability of clean water, hygiene environment and provisions of quality education and healthcare delivery.

Delivering his address, the governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Chidiebere Onyia, at the event, themed “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind”, stressed that the SDGs were not just global aspirations, but a call to action for every region, community, and individual.

He maintained that the South-East, with its abundant human capital resource, entrepreneurial spirit and resilience, has a vital role to play in accelerating progress on the sustainable development goals in Nigeria.

In her keynote address, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said that the participation of the South East region in the consultation was a clear demonstration of the commitment of the states to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.

Good governance keep it up but water is not running in Enugu, why? Is it sabotage or what.
Re: Enugu Aligning Development With SDGs, Says Mbah by Hemanwel(m):
This thread reminds me of the testimony my pastor, a Yoruba man, gave six days ago in church.

He said he went for a wedding in Enugu two weeks ago. It was his first time of being in the SE region. He was even hesitant of going because of the insecurity news in the region. To his amazement, he said he couldn't believe what his eyes saw there. He said the place is so beautiful and well organized that he couldn't believe he was in the East. Do you know what he did after the wedding ceremony? He said he chartered a Keke and told the driver to take him round the city that he wanted to see the ghetto part of the city. He just wanted to be sure that everywhere wasn't as beautiful as he had seen and that he wanted to know how the ghetto part of the city looks.

Many people who have not been to the SE think it's a dirty, unorganized region. Enugu, in particular, has been blessed with good and visionary leaders from time immemorial.

Paper Weight Governor according to Wike grin

How can a big party like PDP don't have Governorship candidate in Anambra State. It's disgrace on the highest level.
Mbah should have at least done a fund raising event to raise funds for party faithfuls in Anambra State.

My prayer is that we don't get an inept governor after Mba's tenure. We don't want another Ugwuanyi in Enugu.

Enugu State is a very old state planned and developed by the colonial masters pre-independence. Old Eastern region.
The major problem there is water scarcity and wicked/greedy house agents.

Enugu State is the only State in Nigeria where house agent can take up to 40% of cost of rent as agent fees.

Imo is trying oo.
There are visible infrastructure projects.
And the government is following Soludo's footsteps to give technology a thriving chance.
For me, that's good.

He doesn't want distraction, he is not a full time politician like Wike that never managed his personal businesses before coming to politics, Wike is power drunk and doesn't think anything else outside politics

Traditionally Enugu is a fine State just like you can say of Cross River.
But........

So the SDGs, how have they impacted on the lives of the people?
I think in this era any government that's doing what is good should not find it difficult to have the media outlets market the State in a good way and also getting external investors for investment within.

Do they now have and enjoy water in the State?

I haven't been there since late '90's to early 2000.....

What do you mean by distraction?
Anyways since he doesn't want to be distracted, what has he truly achieved in ensuring Enugu State can compete favourably with other States like Lagos, Rivers State and Abuja both in infrastructural development, human capacity development and economic value?

Enugu State has always competed favourably with other states in terms of human capital development, the city is well organized and he has done well in terms of infrastructure, Enugu may not have those big manufacturing companies in Lagos and PH but Mbah is making strives

J

This is the first time enugu gets a thief as a governor

All he mbah desires is to steal lands without compensation

How can you break people homes shops at Nike road without compensation

He is looking for people homes and lands to steal

Mbah can bribe all the media in Nigeria it won't change the fact he is cursed by the people in enugu because no one voted for him

The great Igbo tribe should not be deceived.
This sultan of sokoto goat, is a hidden/sleeper cell islamics caliphate.

So called enugu and other so called SE areas in the great region, can do better. Igbos can do better by themselves with good allies partnerships.

A weakling. He can't do anything to stop the herdsmen from causing havoc. Very lily livered.

So many casualties in the the state and can't talk.

Until Enugu take back their state from this lame duck, there can't be progress.

Unfortunately, his media e-rats continues to defend him.
