If anyone refuses to stop for your checkpoint, simply set up a system in such a way that such a vehicle would be apprehended 400metre to 1km away/ahead, and make them pay for that. There's is absolutely no need to be trigger happy for evading a checkpoint. That officer needs to lose the job. If Erratic youths killed that cop, the silent police unit will suddenly want to act all mighty in that community. Smh |

Sorry, but the kid brought it on himself Yes before anyone quotes me, I know our police force gets issues . I know that the cops should have just ignored the guy. If he wants to zoom make him zoom. But anytime I see police checkpoint, and they tell me to slow down. I slow down. I don't try to zoom through the checkpoint. Keep in mind that some criminals once they see police try to run through the checkpoint. I remember one case from years ago. Three armed robbers stole a car , zommed off, tried to speed through a police checkpoint..all three of them were shot dead. Besides a cop has no way to determine whether you are a threat or not. And zooming through a checkpoint is a nice way of saying that you are a criminal with damming evidence. Anyway, time for things like body cameras and speed cameras. But at the end the guy brought it on himself. No rip for him. |

Haydens:Up north the same abokis and shoemakers are harrased by the police Or have you forgotten the outcry over the mass arrests of protesters in the North. Police shootings happen up north. |

Ignoring a police stop and search operation anywhere in the world is a sure recipe for take anything you see like that. Please, even if you carry Cana, loud, your papers are not complete or they're expired. Make sure you stop when asked to. A little hailing and banter always goes a long way with police officers and if you have small cash, you can bless them but if e no dey, tell them next time boss. R.I.P Chappy |

hustler2828:And at the end he would be arrested for mishandling a police officer. You know that's a crime. I once got into a shouting match with a cop. In my anger I never gave the guy an excuse to arrest me by doing as you suggest. Plus why was the guy zooming through a police checkpoint.? That's a nice way of raising unnecessary suspicions. I've stopped many times at police checkpoint..90percent of the time Dem just greet me and wave me through and I no be oga on top. |

RZArecta:Most of the time if you slow down for them, they will even just greet you and wave you through. This could have been avoided. |

Dogalmighty17:It happens up north. Also borno, a terrorist won't drive through a police. Checkpoint if they can help it And same borno, lots of people have been shot dead under suspicion of being terrorists when they weren't. It's one of the reasons why boko got a lot of recruits. |

Dogalmighty17: It's because there is no southern unity. South east who got the balls to stand up for themselves are usually dragged down by their fellow Southern region brothers/sisters |

What the police did is highly unprofessional, but I think what the young man did is very wrong, why would a policeman flag you down and you would rather prefer to step on the accelerator? Like that was very careless! And where did an 18 years old get the money to afford a Mercedes Benz abeg 🤔 |

RZArecta:. No I agree that it is very wrong. I get stopped all the time. Its irritating but I stop. My point is I'm not even sure if it's legal or not anymore. They keep banning and unbanning the check points. Truth be told the reason people hate police chrck points is not because of criminals alone most people know the police is out to extort. One evenening I was passing by a police barracks and this guy walked out of the gate right in front of me. He was wearing a police top and trousers with bathroom slippers. He just started waving cars down. I didn't stop for this one. I just drove past because I knew he was looking for dinner. While I blame the boy for not stopping I think the chrck point issue is now a menace. |

| Re: Police Shoot 18-Year-Old Boy To Death In Edo by nairalanda1(m): 11:38am On Mar 15, 2025 |
armadeo:It's kind of the same though. Part of the problem is our police is underfunded. All the issues with them arise from that fact. I'm.not defending police corruption or evil. This is where your government should learn to lead us well. |
