Solidarity has continued to come the way of Senate President Godswill Akpabio following allegation of sexual harassment against him by the Senator representing Kogi Central, Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The allegation in the past couple of weeks has dominated public discourse, with individuals and groups aligning based on their convictions on the matter.

The latest is coming from Kogi women same state with Akpoti-Uduaghan. Known as Ebira Women Professionals Forum (EWPF) who said abundant facts point to the innocence of the Senate President who has not only demonstrated that he is gender friendly but has received honour to that effect as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

The group in a statement on Friday signed by its President General, Hajia Salamatu Abdullahi expressed disappointment over the allegation by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of being on a mission to bring international embarrassment instead of honour.

It says the testimony by a member of the Senate, Sen. Onyekachi Nwebonyi who in a recent interview said he was part of Senators that visited Akpabio in Uyo December 2023 during the Senate President’s birthday.

According to him, he drove in the same car with Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s and her husband and can't remember when the Senate President harassed his Kogi Central colleague.

Agreeing totally with the Distinguished Senator, Ebira Women Professionals Forum accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of being a serial blackmailer who will stop at nothing to use sexual harassment allegation to damage people's reputation.

The women group said a testimony from an insider who was part of the visit cannot be controverted.

It applauded the suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan for her unparliamemtary behaviour and called on Ebira Women to always be good Ambassadors of the tribe and Kogi in general.

All this paid actors are making me laugh. Why is her fellow women from the same tribe ganging up on her and supporting Akpabio? Isn't it suspicious? What do they have to gain by supporting Akpabio?
All this just make me believe there is truth in what natasha is saying and that Akpabio is guilty

What's happening between them can be likened to when you fall out with a lady that you were once close to and she starts beating her chest that "I will let you know that I'm a woman" describing how she intends to punish you with false accusations and defamation because she knows the entire world will believe her.

So Akpabio has proudly received awards for being “female-gender friendly.” Well, maybe the country needs to ask—was he too friendly? Because the line between “championing women” and predatory power-play needs to be redrawn, especially in this case.

Let’s lay it bare:
• Senator Abdul Ningi? Accused of speaking his mind—suspended in 24 hours.
• Senator Natasha Akpoti? Dared to raise her voice—ethics committee and suspension in 24 hours.
• But when Akpabio is accused of sexual harassment, suddenly, it’s “let’s take our time”?
• Is Akpabio not a senator too? Or is he now some holy messiah immune from accountability?

This isn’t even his first time—multiple whispers, multiple allegations. The red flags have been waving for years. If the same rules apply, he must recuse himself, hand over to his deputy, and face the Senate Ethics Committee like every other senator.

You cannot weaponize Senate rules against opposition voices and then suddenly develop amnesia when it’s your own name on the scandal sheet.

This is not justice—it’s judicial gymnastics, and Nigerians are not fooled.

If Akpabio is too big to be investigated, then the whole Senate is too small to be called democratic.

I hate it when ladies scream Sexual Harassment after any small joke. Toasting is not sexual harassment. Did he press your breasts, or did he press your brokos? If Akpabio asked Natasha out, all she needed to have said is, I am not interested. That is not any form of sexual harassment. Let us stop giving oxygen to nonsense accusations. If as a lady, you do not want any man to toast you, then remain in your father house or in your husband house. This world is a free world. Toasting a lady, even if she is married is not a crime.
