As a coper my income was around 1,250 a month, even back then , it covers nothing, accommodation is however free.

That is rural serving, this girl is talking of a rent of 1.2m.

I have some 2 bedroom flats at a good place in awoyaya, the rent are not up to that.

Also what is stopping her from teaming up with others to rent.

She is just an olosho looking for a sugar daddy to foot her bills in all likelihood.

Nobody is imposing anything on you. At some point in life, you have to get out of your comfort zone. Some graduates that did NYSC and even had years of experience but japaed, are even sleeping on the street abroad because they are yet to settle. Life is not bed of roses, whatever you need to do ( within the bounds of the law) to pass through a stage in life, do it.

I disagree most of these are 21 year old just starting out in life. You are sending them to areas that aren’t secured and safe .
Japa is a completely different issue- they made the choice to leave for greener pastures . NYSC is forced labour. How would you feel if it’s your sister who has to share a room with people she doesn’t know all because the allowance given to her by government doesn’t cover shelter, talkless of feeding. What a way for a government to start people off in life !!!
When I served a lot of these girls became high class prostitutes in order to get extra money to live comfortably. Some had to ask their parents for extra money. When the cost of living doesn’t reflect on the allowance that’s a trap !
Allowance should be N100k by now or scrap the bloody program.

You are distracting from the issue. Tell me the kind of apartment a corper could afford while getting 33k per month? Then factor in feeding, transportation, buying of clothes and for the ladies sanitary stuffs. All from 33k. We should focus on the big picture and stop picking holes here.

terrible. Why are they not paying the 77k yet... but on the other hand, nysc is not a job. It's a mandatory exercise. And the govt already provide them housing, medical care. But most of our youth won't used it. Although not forgetting the corruption from the nysc leaders.

South Korea comes to context. They paid them quite low too for the mandatory military service which is not enough for their personal expense and 99% of them still rely on their family to survive when serving

If I talk, it will look as if I'm an APC member or supporter. But unless you come from a wealthy home or have a thriving business, you have no business with a property of 1.2 million naira per annum as a corp member. Most times, PPAs provide subsidised or free housing. I got that when I served - free accommodation.

I was paid only N9,500 during my days and I was posted to BY2010, do you know how costly transportation and feeding is, in that area, paying for boat from that money alone but we all endured it. It's just a year training program.

Once house agents or landlord wants increased rents or agent's fee they want Corpers as their tenants.

Aside the 33k I was paid house allowance as my PPA didn’t provide me with accommodations.

I don’t need to throw insult before I drive home my point.
