@ topic .... I can understand him catching and drinking rainwater .... catching fish ...and even turtle ...but a bird? ...maybe they landed on the boat to eat scraps? He is a survivor to be out there so long in the elements. I'm more happy for the family that he was found because they will never find closure if he wasn't found ... alive or dead.

It was not days. They were lost for a very long time. I watched the entire documentary on Netflix or so.

Fasting in a safe environment is different from being surrounded by nothing but the open ocean. That is if at all the fasting is genuine.

Next time he should packed a survival food & water.
