I Paid Ransom In Ekiti, Says Abducted Ondo’ Farmer by Jerrymanta(op): 10:16am On Mar 17, 2025
An Ondo entrepreneur who returned from abroad to start farming, Mr. Olanrewaju Oyeleye, has said that he paid N25m ransom for his abductors to release him.

Olanrewaju said the money was paid in Ekiti State.

He and his farm manager were abducted at Oba-Ile area near the Akure Airport while he was going to his farm at Abo-Ashakin, Akure North local government area of Ondo State.

Recounting his experience after release, Olanrewaju said he was kidnapped the day his wife gave birth to twin.

Olanrewaju stated that it was a traumatic experience for his family because he spent five days in the kidnappers’ den.

He said his abductors were armed Fulani herdsmen who ambushed him and farm manager on a Friday morning.

“I was driving my Toyota Camry when I suddenly found the road barricaded by five to six armed men wielding AK-47 rifles.

“They shouted at me to stop but I attempted to reverse. Before I could react further, they opened fire on my car. The gunshots were relentless, I lost count of how many times they fired.

“Realising I could not escape, I eventually surrendered.

“The kidnappers dragged me and my companion into the dense forest, forcing us to walk all night to an unknown location.”

He said he was beaten and brutalised after he insisted he did not have up to N100m to pay as ransom.

His words: “They used cutlasses on my head and back for days. Every morning, they would start hitting me before they gave me a phone and forced me to call my family members, demanding the money.

“The kidnappers, who referred to themselves as ‘the Mafia’, boasted that they feared no one, not even the military.”

What worsened his fears were the calls his abductors made to various individuals demanding supplies and weapons.

He said items were supplied at various places inside the forest for the kidnappers

“They don’t operate in isolation. They have a network and godfathers.

“After days of starvation, my captors provided only water once, which was unfit for human consumption. My family managed to negotiate the ransom down to ₦25 million which was delivered to Ise-Ekiti.

“I am now living in fear. Yesterday, as I was heading home, I was terrified. Today, stepping outside, I am still scared. If they could kidnap me in daylight, what could happen at night?”

Olanrewaju said impunity emboldened the kidnappers and called on government to overhaul security architecture, equip agencies with modern technology, and strengthen community policing

Tinubu has finally normalized herdsmen attack and kidnapping in Southwest...... And yet he has no plan how to tackle the challenge cos it's going worse..... Tinubu is surely F9 in security
Re: I Paid Ransom In Ekiti, Says Abducted Ondo’ Farmer by Dogalmighty17:
Can any Igboman or a Yoruba man boldly go to any state in the north and set up a kidnapping camp? If that's not possible why are the Fulani allowed to set up and operate kidnapping camps all over the country?

Every eye witness confirms that it is Fulani doing this. Fulani that Buhari and El-rufai brought from Mali to destabilise GEJs government if he hadn't conceded 2015 elections. These boys were shipped all over Nigeria and settled in camps awaiting further instructions. GEJ surprised them by conceding so Buhari had no further use for these foreign Fulani. Instead of paying them off and sending them back, Buhari ignored them. These are the boys all over the country causing havoc.

But that doesn't matter. What matters is this. Why are the state governments not tackling this matter? From the interview above, it is clear that these Fulani boys have backers in Nigeria's security architecture. What else explains their confidence? But how long will state governments remain indecisive?

There is not one Fulani man that has been held to account for all these killings. Not one! Yet our supreme court can sentence someone to death for just defending himself from a Fulani who tried killing him!

These people are doing what they are doing because the rest of the country has chosen the path of cowardice.

South West is now the new southern kaduna…. Fulani herdsmen Obi could have obliterated from existence within one year. If tinubu security can track and arrest innocent Nigerians who criticize him why can’t he use the same on herdsmen and bandits. Why is it that the government doesn’t track the phone numbers of police and military on patrol duty on the highways? Common sense does anybody believe you can do kidnapping successfully for years without connivance of security forces? Do people ask questions where recently retired military men make money to buy billions of naira worths of property in Abuja when even their 30 years salary cannot afford it?

How is he sure they are fulani herdsmen?

Did he see any cow?

According to babablu mentality, if you didn't see any cow, then it is not fulani herdsmen.

This must be old news from before APC change happened.
Don't believe those who are hell bent on damaging the reputation of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and the brilliant political strategist who made him president to get his own turn at continuity. grin

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

Where Are The Cows? Is Evans A Herdsman?'

When Funke Olakurin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti was murdered instead of Bola Tinubu to make sure that the perpetrators were brought to book, he ended up making fun of the death of the young lady by turning everything into tribalism by showing his hates for Igbos.

Tinubu has never spoken against the deadly activities of Fulani herdsmen across the country

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

However, the leader of the team, identified only as Tambaya, and three others are yet to be found.

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.

The only panacea is for Tinubu to order shoot at sight any kidnapper caught. Needless interrogating him.

This what has kept Ghana clean from these vampires. You are shot immediately if caught anywhere in Ghana.

Let's be more serious adopt this policy and see the after effects.

Enough is enough 😉
