Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has dismissed the ongoing impeachment move against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, insisting that the governor will not be removed from office, News360 Nigeria reports.

In a viral video released on Monday, Fayose strongly criticized Nyesom Wike and the pro-Wike lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing their actions as futile.

“Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara is going nowhere. Forget all these things drunkard Wike and his pro-lawmakers are doing,” Fayose said in the video.

His view comes amid fresh impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara, initiated by Speaker Martin Amaewhule and 26 lawmakers loyal to Wike.

The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State has escalated since Fubara’s fallout with Wike, his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The problem is who controls the treasury of the state.

Because of one man's interest, everybody in this state is suffering, the workers and pensioners, no allocation.

FCT Minister is a political appointee—lower than senators in protocol. Ignore all Wike’s media antics; how many of you can even name the previous FCT minister?

Saying the position is equivalent to a governor just shows your ignorance.

Wike is fighting this battle because Rivers State allocation is 50 times bigger than FCT’s. If someone has to explain this to you, then you shouldn't be commenting on politics.
