What Was Good For Plateau and Ekiti Is Also Good For Rivers

Under President Olusegun Obasanjo, States of Emergency were declared in Plateau and Ekiti states on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, and on Thursday, October 19, 2006. Every single Presidential candidate in the 2003 election was in government then, either as Governors or in other high positions. None of them opposed President Obasanjo then.

So, why are they complaining when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does the same thing in Rivers State?

When President Obasanjo declared States of Emergencies in Plateau and Ekiti, there were no bombing incidents. Meanwhile, in Rivers State, there have been two bomb blasts in less than twenty-four hours.

There is more than enough justification for a State of Emergency in Rivers, and Nigerians should support President Tinubu in maintaining law and order in the country.

What was sauce for the goos in Plateau and Ekiti States under Obasanjo should be good for the gander in Rivers State under President Tinubu.

Our democracy was still at the nascent stage when Obasanjo suspended democratically elected governors. We aren't all children born yesterday. All those states had serious security concerns before a state of emergency was declared. Yet, none of them were suspended for a whole period of 6months.

Our country has now grown past that. The constitution recognises that a state of emergency may be declared , BUT does not give the President the right to remove the Governor and his Deputy.

Your former boss, Goodluck Jonathan, knew this, that's why he didn't remove the governors of the North East region in the height of Boko Haram crisis.

Reno you are a big disgrace to your name, your family, your community and your state. May God have mercy on your soul.

But to be honest, one thing that's made me to secretly hold Tinubu in high esteem is him realizing how counter-productive it will be for him to have a Reno among his media team with his childish, senseless, lame,

Of all the possible intelligent defenses that could be, as regards this state of emergency declaration, is this the best Reno could come up with?

So, because this same situation happened during OBJ regime when our democracy was still at the infantile stage, it should be allowed to stand? Need Reno be reminded that we have grown democratically since OBJ left power?

COMRADES, Reno Omokri is a nonsense man, if Rivers State belongs to APC, would Tinubu declare a state of emergency? Politically, is Benue State not hotter than Rivers State?
Yorubas are very good at using the presidential power to oppresse the leaders of component branches; Obasanjo during his time, declared a full State of emergency. Yar' Adua, never imposed a state of emergency, Jonathan declared a partial state of emergency. Now, Tinubu declared a full state of emergency
