Dangote is a criminal. He really wants to monopolize oil sector as he did in cement.. God will punish you if you did not leave poor Nigerianz alone... We need serious and steady competition in oil sector... |

I pity uyou don't have to be use "Mumu" it shows you lack public etiquette. See, Let Tinubu privatise the refineries, supply crude oil to modular refineries to create a stiff competition. But he's starving them crude. |

adenigga:Is it not the duty of the FG to ensure that other refineries are working so as to engender competition. Dangote must not be made to suffer for the incompetence of the regulatory agencies. |

adenigga:NNPCL also argued that Dangote Refinery sued a non-existent party, as the entity mentioned in the suit as the second defendant, “NNPC,” does not exist. When you see a party trying to use technicality to strike out a case in a court, it is an indication that party lacks arguments to win the case. |

Chimarto:See,we have crude oil than can sustain us and we can also export isn't it. If you read and understand, dangote's aim is to ensure that we refine what we it use at home rather than importing as usual. He also insists that 650k bpd refinery (the largest in our continent)can sustain us,so let NNPCL proof him wrong with facts. It becomes monopoly when dangote doesn't want others to get license to operate refinery. FG should revive other refineries and give licenses and support to others willing to operate refinery. FINISH!! |
| Re: Fuel Import: NNPCL Loses Bid To Stop Dangote’s ₦100 Billion Suit by AbuAeesha: 7:01am On Mar 19, 2025 |
Akwara25:But who is stopping others from operating their own refineries?? Govt. owned refineries that have been dormant for several years, suddenly start working when dangote built his. FG should give others license to operate refinery and not all these short term/dubious solution by importing refined oil when we have refineries at home |
| Re: Fuel Import: NNPCL Loses Bid To Stop Dangote’s ₦100 Billion Suit by Cogs(m): 7:14am On Mar 19, 2025 |
May God raise someone else who would also build a refinery and become a worthy competition. And I hope that this would also force the NNPCL to actually be determined to make country's refineries work. If the country's refineries work, Dangote can't monopolize. The country would make more money from oil export and the price of fuel would be stable and competitive. But Dangote knows that they would rather die in court than make the country's refineries work. In a way, he's challenging the Federal government to become responsible. |

Babanlagenius:Exactly! He has the financial strength to make the sector unattractive to others by pricing his products very-very low such that others can't compete, and then jack up the prices at will when he has effectively monopolised the entire sector. I just hope (and pray) that other refineries spring up soon. |

My question is, is the FG still paying subsidy to this importers? Because we were told d cost of landing is very high. D FG says no more subsidy. Sell as u buy. But if dangote reduce price, d importers follow suit. So how are the importers making profit ![]() |

My God. How can someone be this daft. Dont you understand the concept of deregulation and free market? Cant you see the importance of fuel importation? Cant you see that because of fuel importation, dangote has been reducing the price of petroleum? Dont you see that Dangote is a ruthless business man? And that if not for importers, Dangote would be selling fuel for 1500 and be lying to us? Jesus christ, where do you keep your brain. Just so you know, dangote and importers are both ruthless people. Nobody cares about you, dalass: |
| Re: Fuel Import: NNPCL Loses Bid To Stop Dangote’s ₦100 Billion Suit by sayittome(m): 8:46am On Mar 19, 2025 |
Govt is not paying subsidy to importers anymore. The truth is that importers have been scamming the nation for so long and for so much; hence the removal of subsidy by Tinubu. However, dangote has come on board so the market dynamics have changed for the importers. So they have no choice than to reduce the price and stop all the lies otherwise nobody will buy their fuel. Dangote is also a ruthless business man who is unable to sell his product cos of fuel importation. As a result of importers, dangote is forced to reduce his price so that he can have demand. This is the essence of price the price war. The greatest mistake is to think that Dangote or the importers are your friends. Never. No one of them is fighting for your interest but their business empire. The goal of dangote is to stop fuel importers (which are his competitors) so that he can control the market and increase the price like he did to cement. The goal of the importers is to frustrate dangote refinery and return us to the days of fuel subsidy. Again, dangote and the importance are fighting for their personal business empire not nigeria. Exactly. Dangote want to replicate the cement scenario in the petroleum sector. Nobody should ppray for him to succeed. The truth is that petrol is be lower that what it currently is. Price of petrolum will come down further is this competition is sustained. As a matter of fact i think fuel importation should continue. This will force other local refineries to reduce their prices. Take for instance the cement sector where prices have soard cos of no importation. Take a look at agriculture where prices of food stuff have soard cos border has been closed. This tell you that importation is a very effective tool to reduce local prices of goods and services and to checkmate our local enterpreneurs

|

Get it right brother by taking a cursory look at the agric sector and cement. In the cement sector, after many years of border closure, prices of cement have jacked up even though dollar rate has reduced recently. Did u ever ask youself why? Why is the prices not going down? Take a look at the agric sector when govt closed the border and provided lots of incentives to farmers, yet prices of foodstuff have still not reduced? Did you ask yourself why? Now look at the petro; sector where we have local players (refineries) and fuel importation, and the prices of petrol is reducing. Can you decipher anything from this? Let me help. It appears that importation is a very effective tool to reduce local prices of goods and services. This means that if border is opened for cement and agriculture, prices of good and services will reduce which will be beneficial for the economy. This is because if there is no importation local players will sabotage the economy like you see in agriculture and cement. So the goal should not be to outrightly stop importation. Rather to control/reduce importation. Its a simple economics. HisXLNC1: |

Emperor5:It is not a monopoly. NNPC has 4 refineries and they claim that 3 refineries are working. Sometimes bible encourage us to answer a fool according to his folly, so I will ask you to do a mental imaging of the pressure this puts on the dollar/ naira, also knowing that these saboteurs have built a working refinery in Malta and have shares in other refineries where they don't even have crude oil! I don't have time to explain further 🤔. If you don't get it, I understand just forget about it ![]() |

People that are always comparing cement and petrol. Petrol is far more important because everyone must move from place to place but it isn't compulsory to build a house. |

Now, here is a case that I am highly interested in. Why did NNPC (or NNPCL) have to wait until Dangote refinery started producing fuel before they announced their local production of fuel as well? |

Chimarto:What is wrong with you people's heads? Monopoly against what? Foreign refineries owned by foreigners? Why should anyone buy refined oil products abroad when we have it here? What is wrong with you people? And the imported product is more expensive than the local one they are refusing to buy? And you are defending the marketers? Kai! Who do us? |

allthingsgood:Na you be the only mumu weg I see for here. The marketers their own is to just buy products. If Dangote's product is cheaper, they should buy it, when it is expensive they should go out. Why are they trying to buy products from foreign refineries when we have cheaper options here? Why? What are they up to? |

Indeed NNPC and the importers have been the problem. Fortunately, subsidy has been removed and local refineries are coming up. Unfortunately, another problem is brewing; and that is Dangote. Do u realise that the reason he is reducing the price of petrol is because of fuel importers who are his strong competitors? Obviously you didnt think so. Let me guess, you think dangote so much loves you that he would reduce the petrol price. Hahaha. Wake up. Take a look at the cement industry, why hasnt he reduced the price? Dangote's ultimate plan is to drive out his competitor, and become the price giver/maker. Dangote is currently the price taker. Price is been dictated by market forces which is a function of many players (especially the importers) Dont pray for dangote to win; and dont pray for the importers either. Rather let both players exists and see how price of petrol will reduce further Denko2721987: |

you have a point but it doesnt work like that. Loook at the cement industry for instance where there are no importation, yet the local players have refused to reduce the price of cement. Dont you realise that cement price will reduce one importation starts? Dangote, who is a major player and producer of cement have refused to reduce price; and he is amassing so much profit at our detriment and the economy. Take another look at agriculture where govt has invested so much incentives to farmers, yet prices of food stuff have refused to come down because govt has refused to open the border for importation. Note that Importation is an economic tool to bridge demand gap in the country; which will help to reduce prices of goods and services. There is nothing wrong with importation. it only needs to be controlled so it doesnt destroy the economy. I understand that NNPC and the importers have been the problem. Fortunately, subsidy has been removed and local refineries are coming up. Unfortunately, another problem is brewing; and that is Dangote.
