Bruv I think it was just because Saraki was playing the long game and didn’t want to cause chaos.

Military or civilian for no matter if Saraki was desperate to remove him before time. The hold wey Saraki get for Kwara for that time, no be ojulasan.
grin

......I was in Ilorin then, and I can tell you free of charge that Saraki did try but failed.

And ironically enough Lawal was a performer as a governor. Just that he had a penchant for celebrating himself spraying up Lawal all over Kwara state projects

Fubara was naive to play his cards too early without getting enough men and resources on his side.

Wike that withstood Buhari and Ameachi is not someone you can get rid of easily without having several aces up your sleeve.

If SIM had mass support of ordinary people on the streets it would have helped his cause but the political crisis in Rivers hasn't allowed him to do much.

The way things are going he might just become another footnote in Rivers political history.

raumdeuter:
Only if you wanted to deceive yourself will you be in doubt which side Tinubu supported or why. Tinubu asked Fubara a long time to seek a political solution cos Wike holds all the cards.

When there is breakdown of law and order in a state which the governor cannot control, a State of Emergency becomes necessary. With pipelines being blown up this was the red line

The Admiral is probably a Wike nominee, For the next 6months allocation will not touch Fubaras hand and he also needs to be careful not tp be roped into anything criminal

Within those 6months, LG allocation and chairman will be layered with Wikes men, The Attorney General that was in Fubaras corner would have been spoken to

In all of these Fubara lost as he never enjoyed his tenure for 3months , He didn't even settle down to chop his money and going forward he cant even chop money cos every way to nail him will be explored even if na #1m mismanaged

......FYI.

In February 2018, the Nigerian Senate passed the Emergency Powers (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2018.

The Act says, “The President may, with the approval of the National Assembly, suspend a State Governor or the Local Government Chairman in an emergency area during an emergency period.”

What makes Rivers more of an emergency area than the terrorist and herdsmen ravaged states up North, or the South East where there's sit-at-home every Monday?

The money thing is part of it, but it was more than that, the man wanted absolute control of Rivers, directly, or indirectly via Wike.

this talk about Tinubu being interested in rivers sounds to me like making Tinubu a super boogeyman

this is a beef between wike and fubara. unfortunately fubara has escalated it.

Rivers' crisis is more political than actual insecurity, so why have states that have terrorists kidnapping its citizens not had SOE declared, but Rivers has SOE declared?

Are the citizens of Rivers more terrorized than those up North, or in the South East where there's sit-at-home every Monday?

Well Tinubu is kinda a super boogeyman. So you think he didn't have several things put into consideration before he decided on this line of action, or that there weren't more diplomatic ways to go about things?

He knows whatever diplomatic path he'd have chosen would mean Wike's grip on the state weakening, and that's something he can't afford right now, especially with 2027 on the horizon.
