What I learnt about history of science from my European schools is that in the dark ages, Europeans became religious fanatics and forgot all about science whereas the Arabs were less religious and focused on science, especially on ancient greek works. Given that internet is easily available in Nigeria and has been so for at least 20 years, I don't understand why there isn't an army of self thought Nigerian scientists today. It's like the Nigerians of today are not like my dad's generation nor mine.
