Sunk cost is what got many men into this kind of situation, unfortunately. All the stories of spousal abuse that I have followed, it usually starts during the courtship/dating. In fact, ask this man the first time he received slap as an adult, I can tell you it will be from this his so-called wife and also most likely when they were dating.
