A new precedence is being set in NASS. Now, voice vote can suffice for 2/3 majority. What this portends is that the President can be impeached with voice vote. The same applies to SP and Speaker of HoR. |

You need to know the details. 243 members attended the sitting. None of them said "nay" Everyone said yes. Meaning more than 2/3 voted for it |

Mynd44:Stop writing this na This is basic commonsense How did you know that 243 said yes You have to vote "Yes". If you abstain, it counts against the vote Or don't you understand what voting is? |

Adiola:Yes, you people are the bravest in this country without a doubt. That is why you have won all wars, have no insurgency and have surmounted all hurdles placed in front of you. Keep it up. |

Mynd44:To be honest I believe this is very wrong. Even if some people have refused to take their constitutional responsibilities by not attending the plenary, when the constitution demands that they should all attend, their should be a written record for all who voted for and against it....at least so their constituents can know if they have serious representatives or not. |

AndroBlaze:The constitution never demands that all members of the house must attend a sitting where emergency declaration is to be confirmed. The constitution simply requires that 2/3 of members must support the declaration. If 75 Senators attends the sitting out of 109 and 73 of them supported the declaration, then the requirement of the constitution has been duly met. No issues. |
| Re: Voice Vote To Approve 2/3majority by AndroBlaze: 2:43pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
seunmsg: Chief, it actually says 2/3 of all members of the Assembly. It is explicitly written. |
| Re: Voice Vote To Approve 2/3majority by seunmsg(m): 2:49pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
AndroBlaze:Is 73 not 2/3 of 109? |
| Re: Voice Vote To Approve 2/3majority by AndroBlaze: 2:55pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
seunmsg:Sorry , I was a bit distracted on the phone when I responded to you. Yes, your initial reply was correct. The problem is without it being written, how are we sure how many people voted or even attended. No matter what, constitutionally members are even allowed to abstain. The whole process should have been more clear and transparent for something as serious as this. |

If you check properly, he’s Yoruba. The average Yoruba will cry against evil if he’s at the receiving end. But he will rationalize & defend a worse evil if it benefits him. He is amoral & morally dead. Jflex07: |
