it's a common occurrence in the Nigeria political space for a sitting governor to fight with his immediate past governor and benefactor. These fights are mostly due to power and political structure control between the current governor and his God father or sometimes due to high level of greed from the God father. The fight between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike was shocking to many because unlike other former and current governors rift, theirs was too sudden because it started within 2 months after Fubara's inauguration. According to a politician friend close to the Rivers state government house the main foundation of Wike and Fubara's fight is the position of the house of assembly speaker. According to their political arrangement, the position of the speaker was allocated to Edison Ehie the current chief of staff to the Governor but Wike changed the plan 48 hours to the house of assembly officials election and anointed Martins Amewhule as the speaker of the Rivers state house of assembly. To summarize the story, Edison Ehie felt betrayed and cheated by Wike formed a cartel to convince the Governor about the danger of Wike having control over the house of assembly. They succeeded in recruiting the governor into their faction and their first action was to impeach the speaker Martins Amewhule but when their impeachment plot failed and the information got to Wike, he ordered that the Governor should be impeach for daring to impeach the speaker he anointed. Boom! that was where Sim vs Wike fight started. How did Governor Fubara failed in displaying humility and patience ? Firstly I'm not a supporter of Wike or Godfatherism in politics but to succeed in this world you need humility, patience and some cases loyalty (in politics). Fubara was to quick to allow people to use him as a spearhead to wage war on Wike (mostly Wike's political enemies without any strong political structure). He allowed Wike's enemies to use him to fight Wike when he was yet to understand how politics works remember the governor have been a politician before, he has been a civil servant all through his life. I'm i saying the governor shouldn't have fought Wike's Godfatherism ? NO but he should've endured Wike's insults for sometime while mastering the political game and building his own structure before he start opposing Wike's control. Imagine a sitting Governor only have 4 house of assembly members on his side out of 31, imagine a governor that couldn't have any LGA chairmen he met in office to his camp, imagine a governor where high profiled commissioners resigned from his cabinet - it shows the man is really an infant politician. The people spearheading the governor to fight Wike are the ones benefiting from the fight ranging from political structure control, political appointment/contract, court litigation and others, there was a time Edison Ehie controlled the government house and will give top orders and approvals before the governor was even informed. According to an insider he approved and published the names of some LGA caretaker chairmen before the governor was informed and it almost caused serious issue between him and the governor but they managed it in house. It would've been a better idea for the governor to learn the political game under Wike despite the insults he may receive and later use the experience along with other people to fight Wike and build his own structure than allowing different cartels and factions to give him directionless advice all for their personal interest. |

Wike is the best FCT minister ever. He will make the police and other security agencies work in tandem to ensure Abuja is safe. God bless Wike |

ediko5:This is a whole lot of lies and make up stories . What is the business of fubara with that ? Everyone knows what happened and wike is just a wild beast . If all ex Governors behave like wike, all 36 states in Nigeria will v a military takeover.. Arrant nonsense |

ediko5:So Edison had like 2 or 3 members and he wanted to impeach Martin Amaehule backed by 26 members? You know even if you go to a Primary 2 class and tell them this story, they will stone you... For many weeks Fubara kept daring them to tell the world what he did to warrant an impeachment,, no one could talk. Only for them to come out later selling this fake story. |

peleson1:My write-up has nothing to.do.with the current situation of take over. I'm talking about the genesis of the issue between SIM and Wike and how SIM would've build himself before embarking on a flight with Wike |

ediko5:A wise post. It is clear that people who were to weak to fight Wike themselves in the open used the governor to do so and now he is fighting a premature fight he never really needed to at the moment. The funny thing is that people like Wike, who see themselves as giants, will eventually fall, there is no doubt about it, but the way I am looking at it, God has decided that Fubara will not be his David. |

ddippset:That's the same thing I'm saying. You don't go into a fight unprepared. If you're going into a political fight, prepare yourself politically. Cheers from the street and general public won't win you a deep political battle |
| Re: Wike - Fubara Rift: Lesson To Learn About Humility & Patience by Nobody: 1:49pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
AndroBlaze:Exactly, people who couldn't confront Wike and people Wike retired from politics used Fubara to fight a war he knew nothing about. See the level of maturity the Governor of Akwa Ibom exhibits. He neither took side with Udom to attack Akpabio or with Akpabio to attack Udom but have remained neutral in the midst and even trying to settle Udom and Akpabio's rift |

ddippset:Primary 2 class will stone me? Nope I don't think so cos they will use their brain to think first before they take their action. You have difficulty in comprehension else you could've understood what I meant by failed impeachment plot. You think because 20 people privately accepted to support you in a political battle means you may have up to 10 that will actually be on your side when the battle start? You're yet to understand the betrayal and interest game in politics. |

ediko5:You're so bereft of logic my friend... Wike becomes a powerful minister in Abuja. Wike bought forms for all 32 assembly members. Wike put Fubara in power. And 3 months later Fubara wants to change the speaker that Wike installed. Just 3 months! Haba, you no dey reason? Again, you're so bereft of logic and common sense. Besides all that sef;; for up to a month Fubara kept challenging them "Tell the world what I did wrong" "Tell the world my offence to warrant an impeachment" Nobody said a word! For so long nobody said anything, Only to show up months later on an afterthought that Fubara tried to impeach Amaehule. Haba my brother Receive sense na.! Receive sense!! |

ediko5:No, the genesis of the issue, no one knows. First it was stated that Wike requested some amount from Rivers allocation and that was the news that fly, it was never about Amaewhule |

richmond500:One thing for sure is if the disagreement was about money, Fubara would have paid happily. In Nigeria, godsons don't fight godfathers over money. It was one of the reasons Ambode thought he wouldn't be removed because, as he openly boasted, he was doubling what Tinubu got from the previous administration. |
| Re: Wike - Fubara Rift: Lesson To Learn About Humility & Patience by Agbegbaorogboye: 3:26pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
ediko5:You mean fubara should have attempted to settle Wike and Amaechi's rift? And how do you think Wike would have viewed that? A lot of you just write grammar from your imagination |
| Re: Wike - Fubara Rift: Lesson To Learn About Humility & Patience by Nobody: 3:34pm On Mar 20, 2025 |
Agbegbaorogboye:Where did I mention settlement between Wike and Fubara in any of my post ? Are you following what I wrote at all? All I said is the governor was used by Wike's opponent to spearhead a fight with Wike and he shouldn't have allowed himself to be used. |

ediko5:Maybe you're just writing without thinking You gave an example of Udom and Akpabio and the present Akwa ibom gov settling their rift. I'm now asking you if you think if Wike was in Udom's shoes, he won't see such an act as betrayal. That's the point I'm making Have you heard Udom make any public comments about his successor? Can we count how many comments Wike has made about his successor? |

Agbegbaorogboye:Actually I wanted to write alot about Udom and Uno Eno but something came up and I had to summarise it. I remember when Umo Eno went to congratulate Akpabio in Abuja with prominent Akwa Ibom politicians across PDP and APC after Akpabio was elected senate President, Akpabio told the governor that the governor should never inherit enemies from anyone and he should make his enemies by himself. Mind you Even Umo Eno and Udom had issues but they managed and settled it with maturity. I know Wike is very lousy and immature but you suppose know who you dey work with before you became governor and know how to manage him till you can put him where he belong |
