The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on Friday, March 21, directed the immediate deployment of additional Police officers to Rivers State.

The IGPs directive follows the recent declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other elected officers by President Bola Tinubu.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the IGPs decision is aimed at providing improved security to the people of Rivers State and Nigeria at large.

Adejobi said the Police personnel in the state will work with the officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other sister agencies to maintain law and order in Rivers.

Residents of the state have also been urged to go about their routine activities and ensure they do not engage in actions that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.

Also individuals with criminal intentions have been urged to stay away from Rivers State.

“The Nigeria Police Force emphasises that aggrieved individuals retain the right to seek legal redress through the appropriate judicial channels. Consequently, any attempt to exploit the situation through unlawful gatherings, protests, or activities to disrupt public peace will be met with the full force of the law. Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, comply with all legal directives, and continue their daily activities without fear.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and security. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities that may compromise public safety,” Adejobi stated.

The police should better behave well n be orderly cos the people there are already "unhappy " with turns of event there.

They should gently collect there N100 from motorist n not harass or intimidate anyone except they want a version of the end sars drama.

Maiduguri, zamfara, benue and ondo are seriously facing terrorists attacks but it's rivers State you're deploying your men to. God will arise and fight for us against your wicked leaders it's a matter of time

Please more Officers are needed in Benue, Enugu, Ondo and Niger State Oga Police.
