We are not but back then, agriculture was the mainstay of the ecomomy and we have vertile land, including deposits of minerals and other resources. Our cash crops brought Nigeria serious money. Therefore, when they designed it, they were correct.

Agriculture is serious business if taken seriously. The major problem we have is insecurity and some people believe the bandits attacking farms is a deliberate attempt to rely on exports and dangerous foreign seeds. If people cannot farm, no food to eat.

Most of the West African countries have yellow, red and green. Some of them say yellow is for gold eg Ghana or it is for mineral resources eg Mali but Nigeria chose something simple. I like how it stands out from other countries. Only Sierra Leone comes close to ours but they've been at war for a long time (blue).

They cannot just design for design's sake. Every stroke, every colour has to mean something.

I don't see any attraction in the design of Nigeria flag, it is not beautiful, it is too insipid.
It looks ordinary. We can change it, it is not a taboo to think about it.

There are many books about flags of the world that are written by experts whose job is to study flags. Flags have been in existence before you and I were born for thousands of years. Nigeria's flag is simple and rich. It is one of the winning combinations of flags around the world.

The two green stripes represent natural wealth, and the white represents peace and unity.

Tinubu found our national a them ungly and he changed it( even though he changed to slavish anthem). It shows it can be changed.

Your argument is insignificant, you have refused to show me any of six major tribes in Nigeria whose traditional colours are green

You are mistaken if you think I'm replying you, in person. When I reply, I use it to educate other readers and learn from other respectful members who engage in discussions, it's not for any particular person.

You want to select a color from the major tribes so that others can cry discrimation? Or when the competition was advertised in the 50s that the British Crown wanted a new flag design, they asked for the colors from the tribe? Maybe you should just choose the Tiv black and white. You can hop on the other thread that is about flag design to describe your disgust about the flag. Being a color of tribes is peurile as flags have meaning and this one had a good meaning, no one group could claim from a country with diverse people.

People like you who seem to be so invested in their POV, would have probably not had a flag design competition in the 50s since it doesn't meet your criteria.



Go and reply on that thread or this one. It's okay if the flag is ugly and makes no sense to you.
