I can confirm to you it has been like that since 2000 to the best of my confirmed knowledge.

As bad as Osho baba may be, he built most of the drainages in Benin today.

I heard so much about that once great Benin kingdom,but when I got there I can't find a traces of ancient traditional or cultural etiquette amongst it's youth, infact, almost all their youths can't speak their language. It's like they lost everything,their africanhood.

If the governors decide to build proper drainage, as in do the right thing it is same Nigerians that will shout and scream blue murder. Did they not try to do the same in Lekki by pulling down houses built on water drainage ways with people crying that homes were being destroyed? Imagine an old city like Benin how many houses will have to go to for proper roads, canals and drainage to be built, I assure you no governor will have the political will to do so except a psychopath
