The issue here is not just about service for HND graduates, it's that graduates who gained admission to HND having gotten their OND through part time study were not allowed to serve, even when their HND was full-time study.
So that's what's just been corrected.

Propaganda as usual. HND graduates have been participating in the nysc scheme since 70s. Only the part-timers were exempted. I called Tinubu's supporters celebrating this without reading the news illiterates for several reasons. This is one of them

The school and NBTE compile the list for NYSC service, not all full time HND make the list.

department that have no accreditation do not go for nysc be it uni or poly

Work force is where the issue is,, there are levels your hnd cant go beyond because of discrimination,,, work in a bank and get stuck to a particular position for a long time while they make you train the fresher's as graduate trainee and put them position bigger than you the trainer and so on .. it's every where even in education sector itself

Equating HND and BSC is rewarding mediocrity.
Entry qualifications into university is stronger than that of polythecnics. Course content is a different ball game. Technical schools graduates are equally as good as polythecnics, should they too now claim to be HND holders mates?

I had HND in 2008 and served in 2009 in yobe state. So I don't understand which HND you guys are talking about.

And for people condemning HND, if you are an engineer and travelled to UK, Australia or Canada, HND is more valued in terms of more job opportunities compared to the so called BSC.

But that makes no sense. HND and OND are well partitioned, so the previous diploma shouldn't be an issue. Either ways, thanks for mentioning that.

Polytechnic is a glorified secondary school

Those that did ND at part time level but later went for HND at full time were excluded from NYSC. Those that wrote jamb and did ND at full time and later HND at full time were mobilise for NYSC
